Southampton At Liverpool The Verdict on 09:56 - Nov 14 with 714 views
For the 1st time in a while I was actually looking forward to watching Saints.
As you say Nick anything we got on Saturday would have been a bonus but there were some encouraging signs .
Playing Adam Armstrong up front with che Adams , less tippy tappy football and passing for the sake of it and we seemed to play a lot more forward passes .
However our old failings were still there - failing to defend. The keeper at fault for the 1st goal ( certainly if McCarthy had let it in he would have be slaughtered) and the centre backs being asleep for the other 2 and seemed to be unaware of the danger untill too late .
Still after going 1-0 down inside the 1st 5 mins we fought back to equalise before letting in 2 before half time .
2nd half you feared the worst but a combination of poor finishing by Saints and good goalkeeping by Alisson resulted in a 3-1 loss.
Between Ralph and our summer recruiting have left us the 19th worst team in the league and it’s hard to argue it’s not derserved .
Still time to turn the season around and hopefullyJones and his coaching staff can. any money we may have will have to be spent wisely however January is a difficult window and any player who may have been tempted to join us in the summer may not fancy a relegation battle in January.
