Interesting that in many of the posts on this thread there is the use of the word “fault”. Yes he got skinned, by a very talented attacking player. How often do we see flashes of great play by premier league players against other premier league players and the attacking player is lauded for how good they are. From my perspective for their second goal, yes our Championship standard, 6’4 CB with 2 dodgy hips who often struggles against nippy wingers in the Championship got skinned by a Prem player. Why does it have to be his fault, especially as he got pulled out wider due to other players not stopping the attack earlier? Sometimes your opponent merely has better players who can produce these flashes more consistently. Same with Walsh, he wasn’t at fault for either goal, in the same way Murphy Cooper could not be blamed for any of the 4 goals he let in last night against Liverpool. |

And if that were to happen then it is time for the match attending fans to step up as well - and recognise that young players generally are not born immediately ready to play at a high standard consistently game after game. Too often over the years our young players have been given plenty of stick early on - mainly around the two full back positions from memory. I often hear aggressive comments from many in the back of SAR the second a mistake is made. Very little acceptance of a“bedding in time needed” type attitude. I get that some of the stick and some threads on here are more berating of the manger decision to throw youngsters in to the wrong game and should have played an experienced alternative etc. If we are as threadbare over the coming month then we need to support the development and fringe players as much as possible. |

Smyth definitely as Dembele is making Amadou look even worse than he actually is today. He is getting roasted with no cover in front of him. Not sure Frey brings anything to this game though. Poku for Koki who is largely ineffective today as hardly anything is going down our left first half. Time for Julien to earn his corn at HT |

Only thing of note this year was that the traditional “Cecelia’s Christmas Day Mushroom Soup” starter (a staple in our household for many years) ended up being sieved and poured down the sink after daughter number two refilled the salt grinder with fine salt not realising her mother’s eyesight and hearing would not spot the difference. Now I like a bit of salt but there was no rescuing this. “Anyone for Egg Mayo?” |

Great preview Clive, thanks. I’m probably being a bit of a thicko here, but in the prediction preamble did I miss a reference when the subject of Billy Bragg using Paul Simon lyrics for New England came up??? Happy Christmas to all and here’s to a coupon busting rare win away on Boxing Day (St Stephan’s Day in Ireland hopefully!!) |

That week we beat Wales 11-1 in a week in the first week of Jan. Best performance I have seen out of this team in ages. Very Rare occasion I was the the Guinness before the game. Need to do that more often I reckon. |

Today I don’t think we have anything on the bench to rescue this game. Concern is how to make the changes to stop another Coventry score line . Koki is offering no support to RND as he is being bypassed by sitting in and allowing their right wing open season to go out wide against RND and then they overrun us in midfield and have choices. Maybe have Hayden in alongside Varane and Madsen to put up more of a wall (Winter is coming!) and prevent a rout. Cannot see us opening them up with what we have today. I think most of us are not surprised by this, so just beaten down the hatches and ride it out and get home. |

I feel like we are his former foster parents who took him in to our home when he was struggling to find the right home anywhere else; and now proudly watching on as we sent him on back in to the big wide world a better and more mature human being and we watch on with pride. |

Watched it tonight Bosh. It is truly a fantastic piece of work. I thought I was a fan but man, I really don’t know the half of it. It really brought a different perspective to how the Beatles continue to touch so many different people around the world. To say you should feel very proud is an understatement. |

That Cole Hatrick always sticks in my memory. I think it was his first when they got a free kick and the ball went in to the lower loft where I used to sit all those years ago. Some kid had the ball and would not throw it back in when Cole came to collect the ball. The kid balanced it on the wall until Cole got to him then he threw the ball over Cole’s head back on to the pitch. Cole stood there and clapped him sarcastically and the lower loft tore in to Cole. I genuinely thought at that moment, we will pay for that - and 1min later Cole smashes the free kick in to the back of the net and then scores 3. |

What excites me about this JS team so far is that for the Charlton Saito goal and for Kone’s goal yesterday there is this alien concept of having three attackers, one left, one centre and one right speedily approaching the opponents box with the ball being brought quickly in behind them through the centre. It must terrify defences. Koki kept going whereas Madsen played a perfectly weighted ball exactly where Kone needed it to be then BOOM. More of this please. |
