I get this point of view completely. I’d be sorry to see Smyth go. However, even though Poku and Vale have barely played this season I’d be surprised if, between Poku, Dembele and Vale, we couldn’t cover the right side of midfield for the remainder of the season. Also you don’t need half a season to spot a more technically gifted, better player. [Post edited 23 Dec 9:30]

He’s only ahead of Poku and Vale at the moment because they’ve been injured. When fit, which they both are more or less now, they’re both much better footballers. I like Smyth for all the reasons you’ve listed but he’s technically rather limited and there’s little to no resale value at the end of any new contract we may offer him. With Dembele playing there as well, despite his limitations (Leicester aside), does it really make sense to have a fourth player in the same position? I’m surprised that the club are negotiating a new contract with him tbh and, as I’ve said, I like Smyth. |

Impotant goals?! That reminds me of the old joke about the man who returns home from a Dr’s appointment wearing a new Top hat. His wife asks him why he’s wearing a top hat to which he replies….. (answers on a postcard please) |

I’d be surprised if the club weren’t offering anything other than a very low contract. Poku, Dembele (especially after the Leicester game) and a fit Vale are better options IMHO. [Post edited 22 Dec 15:42]

I know, I know but name me a more winnable fixture this season? If we do win the next 4 games then I’d expect the ‘Could we go up this season’ thread to go stratospherical. [Post edited 21 Dec 10:43]

I’m trying to contain an overwhelming sense of optimism about these 4 games. This is not a natural state of affairs for me and I’m finding it quite unsettling. |

Four games coming up over Christmas and the New Year and I think we could do very well out of it. Travel distance to Portsmouth and West Brom isn’t too bad. I’d fancy us against almost anyone at home atm and the fact we’re at home for the two games in three days is also a blessing. Norwich aren’t pulling up any trees and Sheff Wed should be as close to a three point banker as we could wish for. We’re also going into it off the back of our best win of the season. The depth of squad we have should be a definite advantage over teams that aren’t so well endowed and our injury situation is also minimal at the moment. So, Shirley it’s all heading in one direction! |

From what I’ve read they’re looking at a 9 or possibly a 12 point deduction in the New Year. |

‘AND being a very decent right back.’ It’s not just that he’s better this season than last it’s a sporting and human story that is undeniably a factor to consider. |

Mbengue for his cult status and also being a very decent right back? But for me it’s the come back from last seasons shambles, redemption arc etc etc for Madsen. Still half the season to go mind. Plus he’s just posted on his IG him drinking a can of Estrella! 😂 Clearly no love lost. [Post edited 20 Dec 19:14]

Could Cifuentes return to Loftus Rd end up with him being sacked again? |

According to the Leicester Mercury article linked above, they are being paid their wages on time. They’re not being paid their wages early. |

‘the obvious answer is you’re too young to have seen much other football, or you’ve only been around watching Rangers for a few years’ Obviously! 😂 |

It’s interesting that you think this pro/anti Cifuentes is somehow split along generational divides. |
