Politicians, opportunists and Dale
at 15:18 20 Jun 2024

Galloway and his supporters have hardly moved out of the large mainly Asian areas so I would be surprised if he had heard much support for Reform, though it would be in his interest to encourage as many of those who won't vote for him to not vote for his closest opponents.
Reform will undoubtedly get some support, but their candidate in Rochdale is conspicuous by his absence and a quick search into his credentials is hardly inspiring.

QTWTAIN
Galloway and his supporters are rattled because they are seeing that the General Election is a different animal than the by election that he won on a very low turn out in areas other than his own fertile territory.
I feel it will still be close but with Labour having a sensible Candidate I hope the Town will send him packing.
I don't know how many have seen Galloways dangerous divisive ranting on the videos being shared by his supporters or seen the abuse being given to Muslims in Rochdale who don't support him, but this is the usual MO of Galloway.
There is a very strange and unhealthy partnership in Rochdale between far right conspiracy theoriests and Galloways group which is alarming to say the least.
This is were the HNH conspiracy is coming from.
It's amazing how many secret recordings they always have but you never hear them 🤷

Politicians, opportunists and Dale

Unlike many I'm a bit of a politics nerd and have been taking an interest in the attention given to RAFC by the candidates for Rochdale in the upcoming General Election.
Despite San Spotland now lying in the neighbouring Constituency with it's plethora of City and Utd supporters I have as yet seen little or no mention of our club.
In Rochdale however we appear to have raised an interest.
On the one hand we have Gorgeous George making videos and putting out leaflets claiming he has saved the Dale (presumably by standing on Sandy Lane for a selfie), built a maternity ward, got £20 million quid for the Town and probably single handedly saving Gaza by now.
On the other hand we have genuine Dale supporter and Trust member Paul Waugh who doesn't claim to be a saviour or the answer to the World's problems but quietly gets on with supporting our club.
Whatever way you normally vote (or don't) why not consider lending your vote to a Daley and help get rid of Galloway?

I'm sure Brad Kelly was feeling a bit deflated at the full time whistle on Tuesday, however it might raise his spirits to be reminded another young local goalkeeper made his Dale debut just short of 25 years ago.
Given his chance at Brunton Park Stephen Bywater shipped 6 goals against Carlisle in his only game for Rochdale before his transfer to Derby County.
A thumping in a tin pot cup didn't do Stephen any harm, not the club who I recall getting a fair bit of income for his subsequent transfers and milestones reached.

Interesting to see the owner of our ground sharing egg chasers company is sponsoring tonight's game alongside JW Lee's.

A thawing of relationships between the two clubs?

A glimmer of hope is that the press release at the time referred to an 'initial' months loan.
He seems to be enjoying his time with us and Fleetwood are doing ok without him so fingers crossed for som positive news about him staying

Dorking pitch
at 13:48 24 Sep 2023

Interesting to hear Marc White refers to an aftermatch conversation with Jimmy MC as to how slow their pitch is and the advantages it gives them.
As Chris Fitz pointed out, considering the state of the pitch we handled it fairly well.
Marc White has quite vocally as is his way ,criticized his and other artificial pitches recently. Attributing the number of serious injuries he believes they have caused in his squad.
I seriously think if we hadn't had the artificial pitches to train on at Platt Lane this season we wouldn't have got a couple of results we have on our travels, and also we have possibly avoided a number of injuries had we not been used to such surfaces.

Dorking pitch

I will be thankful if we get through 90 minutes of this with no serious injuries.
This pitch is awful, more rubber than 'grass'.
The players are quite obviously struggling to cope with the way the ball is (not) running.
It's playing as though it's waterlogged .
Accident waiting to happen

Dale Sign Valiant On Loan

He is a highly thought of young midfielder from a Division 1 club. Keen to play, and show what he is capable of .
Not being funny but he is taking a fair step down to play for a National League Club, so if anything we have done well to get him.

The problem is that without increasing income significantly from elsewhere £350,000 is just a sticking plaster, and £350 donations would have to be a regular thing. Something that we just don't have the fanbase to support.
Other clubs have tried this and found as we did with the share issues that initial interest is high but nose dives in subsequent seasons as fans just don't have the disposable income to keep giving.
I would love if we were to be a truly fan owned club in future years but I just don't see how it is going to happen given our fan base, it's just not sustainable at this level.

Pearl Street Stand

Considering the offer ' To watch the game for Free at the Kufflink' appears at the top of their homepage and a link to get tickets for the game takes a fair bit of searching for I would say it's debatable as to whether or not they are really encouraging their fans to travel.

If other clubs are like Ebsfleet and do not sell away tickets themselves I am a little pessimistic about just how large the drop in income from potential away fans may be this season.

The ticket site is currently selling Ebsfleet tickets for the Wilbutts with the corner section of Pearl Street nearest Wilbutts greyed out.
Presumably depending on ticket sales, which are not being sold at Ebsfleet there is a chance they could make a late decision to house them in the Pearl St.
Incidentally Ebsfleet are encouraging their fans to stop down South and watch the game in their club bar on TV.

Big Jim confirmed as permanent manager
at 17:35 12 May 2023

Watching that interview he certainly knows what/who the problems are within the club and what needs changing, including from board level.

Having gone through the response on FB about Jim's appointment, it has certainly upset a certain element which makes me think the board might hopefully have got this right

A case for Jim
at 17:02 12 May 2023

A fair and balanced piece Atthepeake that everyone would benefit from reading before going off on one about how we are all doomed.

I must admit my heart sank a bit when I read about the appointment, but having had a while to take it in and mull it over I am feeling actually quite optimistic about Jim as our permanent boss now.

Did we really need someone coming in who knew nothing about the club and existing squad at a time when we are desperate for a bit of stability in the club we love?

Yes it may be the cheaper option, but it is also the sensible one. Jim can hit the ground running and start preparing for next season with a total understanding of who we are, what we've been through, the constraints, facilities and financial restraints he will be working under (investors incoming or not).

The decision has been made, we now all need to get behind Jim and give him the opportunity to prove he is up to the job.

Kevin Kyle on loan from Sunderland at the turn of the century.
Came for game time with rave reviews, but looked like he'd never kicked a football in his life and played only a handful of games.before retuning to the NE.
Amazingly he went on to be capped by Scotland???

Dunphy withdraws bid
at 01:44 1 May 2023

Well there's a surprise, I had heard last week Dunphy didn't have the money but got shouted down because his fellow investors would sort him out.
Truth is he was shit stirring as those with our sensible heads on could see 2 minutes after the final whistle at Stockport.
Dunphy was and Is part of the problem , glad he's now out of the equation and hopefully we can move forward

The fightback starts here

This is a great idea, and really simple with potentially great results.
Could be tied in with new Gold Bond etc.
I wouldn't leave it at workplace, could be tied in with local pubs, sporting clubs, Sunday league teams etc, creating cross club and sport partnerships.
I for one would be more than happy to get involved and forward this.
