32 teams was the perfect format. Not too many minnows qualifying (unlike now) so no diluting the quality, 1st and 2nd qualify for the last 16, finish third you go home. Simple. |

Yes, back in the day, playing 16/17 (after Durham got first class status) first class county games plus B&H, NatWest, Sunday league games alongside playing test matches and ODIs was far too much cricket.
It's now gone completely the other way playing virtually nothing at all in-between test matches. There needs to be a happy medium. |

Belgium's is massively ropey as well. They should get a 100% record not conceding a goal if they have anything about them.
What you get I suppose for hugely diluting the quality expanding it to 48 teams. The same thing will happen if UEFA ever decide to increase the Euros finals to 32 teams. |

All this bollocks about teams from the same confederation not being in the same group. Should just be pots of first, second, third and fourth seeds, if it ends up with three or four teams from the same regional confederation then so be it. |

I know that it is what it is known in their language but why in international sports events are Turkey now referred to as Turkiye? I thought FIFA's official languages were English, French, German, Portuguese, Arabic, Russian and Spanish.
You don't see Austria as Österreich
Norway as Norge
Germany as Deutschland
Italy as Italia
etc etc |
