I’ve never been a leader of a country either, but I’m pretty sure Chairman Mao was a bad one.
Closing threads because people aren’t allowed to correct truths or have a view others don’t like on the manager is bonkers.

Which is a product of the system and something that has followed his for 4 seasons.

And yet we can’t get into the playoffs and go on runs of half a season with barely a win vs an opposition with 11 men.
The endorsements can keep coming, the reality is however that we are under performing and a team doesn’t win games by “reviews”, sadly football is not Holiday Inn Bracknell.
Everyone needs to knuckle down and prove these sound bites are believed and act upon them rather than just mouthed.
Win games, get contracts signed - that will do all the talking. |

You have not seen him throw his players under the bus and also the people that pay his wages?
I’ve seen nothing like it,
No undermining of anything, if we are discussing the pros and cons of the manager then I will answer honestly, I won’t conform to opinion just because it makes people feel more comfortable.
Only he can change my mind. It will take more than 7 games. |

He’s not a new manager, he is approaching half a decade in management and going into his 5th season. He’s one of the longest serving current championship managers, 4th on the list I think. This narrative that he’s some rookie just isn’t true.
He retrospectively (sometimes) takes responsibility, rarely if ever does in the heat of the moment and turns that blame elsewhere.
He doesn’t have to be a world beater, just competent and able to get the best out of the talented squad he’s been given. Taking 2 seasons to realise basic things need changing is not good enough regardless of age.
You don’t have to “care” about his record at MK Dons, but you would be foolish to not look back at his entire managerial career when trying to decipher patterns as to what he prefers, what he doesn’t and general philosophy.
You say the players are loving going to work every day yet nobody wants to sign a new contract to stay. They may enjoy it, but the more ambitious among our players are looking elsewhere and clearly think there is a greater chance of success elsewhere.
It’s a shame because the owners are going to really push us on in the summer, but something is clearly stopping them from signing up and it certainly isn’t through lack of fair offers. [Post edited 6 May 2023 8:33]

Would have made him among the top, if not the top, earner at the club.
I’m happy to see him walk. He’s not worth any more than the offer (not even worth the offer in my view), he doesn’t want to be here unless we pay him a salary he has not earned and does not deserve.
He’s a decent player, but a very replaceable left back who has had an abnormal amount of goal involvements because of Martins system where he acts as the wide player rather than a specialist winger.
Save the money, buy a specialised winger instead of a converted left back and we may well get in the play offs instead of mid table.
Manning is a product of a system rather than anything else, similar to Jamal Lowe under Cooper. He was forced to play up front so scored a fair few goals, but put an actual striker there and the productivity is much better.. ask Piroe.
But that inflated Lowe’s price and stock enough to make another club take him. |

Just platitudes really isn’t it, I’d hope nobody actually takes these press releases as gospel.
I’d much prefer he back his words with actions, if it’s so great here and he’s been offered an incredible deal then not taking it is ludicrous.
Sometimes what isn’t said is louder than what is. The fact he’s not signing a contract tells me all I need to know about his desire to stay in the situation he claims to be so fond of. |

No idea. It’s only been 8 games out of nigh on 100.
If he hasn’t reverted back by Xmas then he will start to earn my trust. As it stands I’m not totally convinced that come kick off next season we won’t be walking the ball around our own box again. |

It’s experience that matters rather than age.
4 years as a manager as a 37 year old is no different to 4 years as a manager as a 45 year old.
After 4 years you should really understand why width is vital in a possession system.
The fact he only appears to have got that now is a big concern to me, personally. |

Investments usually involve “groups” headed by the largest investing person within that group. I would assume the man you refer to belongs in one of the 3 new investment groups, which one of the three I wouldn’t know. I’m sure he would answer if asked though, I don’t do Twitter. |

Marsh AND Martin have to shoulder the blame for recruitment… Martin did not put any importance on getting in wide attacking players through Marsh, only central players he can convert if necessary. When he did get wide players and players with pace, he largely shunned them.
Martin has the luxury of 4 years of slow learning where as with a position like Marsh there is far less tolerance for slower development, he has been thrown to the wolves it seems.
Martin needs to get his act together regarding his player requirements and he will have a man at the helm this time that won’t stand poor standards, Russ will learn quickly that working under/with Watson will be a different animal all together than what he’s worked with previously. Nothing to be concerned about.
Martin hasn’t liked attacking wide players, it’s well documented. He has recently learned how important attacking width is, after 2 years of stubborn refusal.
He now needs to work with the SD to get in the required players AND play them and not revert to the old Martinball.
That is squarely on his shoulders, the SD won’t be picking the team. |
