Yeah I said on the match thread in jest that this might be a system that's impossible to play against! I mean that can't be true, but like you say it'll be interesting to see how teams play against it over the season |

I must admit I was fearing a total collapse in the first half. One way to look at it is that we're not as psychologically vulnerable a couple of months on. You could add the response to the Blackburn equaliser as evidence for that too. |

Every game feels like it carries within it great meaning, but beating Leicester would be a big win: level on points at KO, MartΓ's return, and a defeat would be two in a week going into the chaotic Xmas period, when the last thing you want is a patented QPR death spiral |

The players that all our managers try everything with are different players from season to season? Unless we're saying get rid of all players? Maybe that's not a bad idea, players are probably more hassle than their worth. As a sport we can probably get by with just officials and a ball in the centre circle. |

Really? I was fine with the ending, I can't really think of an alternative that would have worked. I guess it's a film about the journey rather than the ending, in every sense! |

Looking on the bright side, having given ourselves a mountain to climb away from home against the second placed team, without playing especially well we actually came back in to the game in the second half and could easily have pulled another one back in the last half an hour -- and then who knows what could have happened. |

It was odd. First half Sinton kept basically saying exactly that - Smyth and Saito were getting dragged in field leaving space for the fullbacks, which was the one thing you'd have assumed we had a plan to prevent happening, given anyone who listened to pre match opposition reports knew would be the challenge. Unless, I don't know, Hellberg has come up with the ultimate undefendable formation? |

Yeah it's great having a P Block Eye's view of the highlights for us overseas supporters, he does a great job of capturing big moments in the game |

Just watched It Ends. Saw some festival reviews really rating it. It's not streaming at the moment but you can find it online. Having watched Hallow Road recently, and also The Long Walk... Feels like I'm stuck in a subgenre - roads, existential dread, mostly interior car shots This is impressive, especially for a debut film. Naturalistic dialogue, and the tone is really well managed. Dread, hopelessness, some scary parts, but humour too. There's an "oh my god" gut punch gag towards the end that I really enjoyed. Will definitely be looking out for other films by this guy Alexander Ullom. Quite an achievement for his first film, could have easily been a mess. For balance, my wife absolutely hated it, said it was exquisitely boring [Post edited 12 Dec 18:41]

Same, I do this regularly, and they always concur - it isn't just hoop-tinted glasses. |

Bookmarking this image for next time he loses control of the ball and murders a man by lunging two footed into a recovery tackle. |

Yeah this keeps catching me out too. I can't get on board with it, too much of a stretch. I mean, not Agyemang -> Dave levels, but still |

From the vantage point of my sofa it looked a fairly low quality game with sloppy errors from both teams, perhaps hindered by the weather, with the difference being strikers - but unlike seasons past it was our strikers that tipped it in our favour. There were 15 minutes or so after Burrell missed the open goal after doing the hard part that we looked really disjointed, but WBA didn't capitalize. Really pleased to have come out on top in that sort of game, like I say, having a striker that knows where to be and in confident form makes a massive difference at this level, and Kone roughing up defenders was a joy to watch. Madsen I thought looked great again, he's added some grit and physicality and was getting stuck in from the start. The little shoves and niggles are clearly something he's learned since joining the championship, and for me he's the most intelligent passer in the team. I saw the stats that Brian posted on him which apparently aren't great - but I wonder if his passing stats take a hit because he's looking for the killer ball more often than other players? The passes that he does complete tend to be incisive and get play moving. [Post edited 7 Dec 10:59]
