The negativity is aimed at our powerbrokers inability to see and act on the obvious. Unless Sheehans demands are unrealistic (maybe more so on the transfer budget he'd need to replace Darling and Delcroix and O'Brien more than his personal terms) then there's no logical reason as to why they would stall. He's won the fans over, he's guided us to safety, the results of the next two matches are irrelevant so any discussions/negotiations are not going to derail our season. They may well prefer this Hellberg, fair enough, but it's a hell of a roll of the dice. If they don't secure Sheehan whoever comes in would need to start the season very strongly to get the fans back on board because the majority (myself included) will be sceptical at best. |

What's the odds on Sheehan going with Darling and O'Brien signing for WBA next year? They'd have the finances. |

I don't believe so. He's been given the caretakers role until the end of the season but I thought he was still contracted to the club as a coach for the next year or two at least? |
 | Forum Reply | Swans still to have official talks with Sheehan at 16:58 22 Apr 2025
You'd think Gorringe and Montague would be pulling out all the stops to get Sheehan to sign on the dotted line and tie him down to a lucrative contract here. But maybe they're open (even secretly wanting) a club like WBA to pay them compensation for Sheehan so that they can then get their man from Sweden effectively having a decision they're too scared to make made for them (not offering Sheehan the role). Unbelievable really that they seem so relaxed that they could well lose what's proved to be another one of our best assets for absolute peanuts. |

I want Sheehan and Sheehan only. He's proved he's got the tactical knowledge to get the most out of games. He's not stubborn sticking to one (boring and error prone) tactic and tells everyone to "trust the process". Individually players seem to be playing better under him suggesting they're benefitting from his coaching and the coaches he's brought in to support him. Another poster has said players look like they'll "run through a brick wall" for him... That for me tells me everything we need to know and is being seen in the automatic promotion form we are in under him. He's the safe (and exciting if he can take this form into ext year) option which will also save the club £££ which can be better invested into the playing squad. Nothing against Hellberg at all, I don't know much about him, and if Sheehan was inconsistent then I'd be a lot more open to the idea but would be worried we recruit another in the Martin or Williams mould who just want to win the top possession league. If Sheehan wants the job, it has to go to him, anything else I would deem as incredibly arrogant by Montague and Gorringe that they don't want to make the obvious and easy decision. |

Whilst I appreciate this is part and parcel of succession planning, it's right that the hierarchy don't put all their eggs in one basket. After all, whose to say that Sheehan isn't tempted away by a better offer or fails to agree terms with us? So having a plan B,C,D in your back pocket is never a bad thing especially if you don't want things to drag on too late into the summer. But there seems to be something a bit more sneaky regarding this in that they are genuinely looking to see if the grass could be greener on the other side by brining someone unknown in. Big risk, both from the point of upsetting Sheehan/the squad/the fans (although I suspect they'll take little notice of the latter) but also if he Hellberg comes in he'll be starting from a static position, whilst Sheehan it seems has already got us out of the traps. Careful Swansea. Careful. [Post edited 18 Apr 9:29]

Not sure what the link with Gorringe is here? Luka is a new investor/part owner. Gorringe is an employee of SSFC. Trust him or not I can't see the connection or cause for concern? |

Fair point. But I'd much rather see us playing competitively next year and enjoying the football than being handed our backsides to us every week. Maybe short term thinking and the financial windfall if invested back into the club correctly could really benefit us long term.... But I just want to enjoy going to games again as I have been the last month rather than the dross served up last couple of years. Just one season to build... That's all I ask! |

We had a better squad back then, along with a stable financial position and were riding the crest of a wave in how we played. We were better equipped to stay up then than we would be if we went up this season. But if Sheehan (assuming it's him) carries on in this vein next year we could go up and with more strengthening make more of a fist of staying up (with the right backing). I'm one of those who will stand up and say that we're not currently ready for the Premier League. Idiot or not! |

If only the owners read this forum and had pulled the trigger when the majority of posters on here were begging for him to go after the Sheffield United debacle and the 5-0 loss to Norwich. We'd have had another 12pts to play for and who knows what could have happened. That said.... Going up this year would do us no favours whatsoever, let's get 4 or 5 in next year and bud a squad not only capable of going up but also give us the foundations to stay up if we do. |

There is the possibility of course that NF have been as impressed as we are with his performances and see him being a useful squad member next year, particularly as they will likely have a hefty calendar with European football on the horizon. |
 | Forum Reply | Hard not to give him the job at 23:08 12 Apr 2025
Maybe, but he seems to be enjoying having the opportunity to play week in week out and is enjoying life in Swansea. If a deal can get done it's a no brainer. Maybe NF are happy to sell at a cut price but with a hefty sell on % fee? Just need to resolve his wages then which I suspect would be the real stumbling block. |

3 wins on the bounce without a single goal conceded as well as a very well earned draw away to the league leaders. Why does he still need to be assessed? Unless Klopp or Guardiola fancy a shot at the championship next year I don't see how any other manager we can realistically afford/attract would be any less of a risk than Sheehan who has already proved himself. Maybe it's just academical, and he doesn't want any contract.negotiations between now and the end of the season to take the focus away from the job in hand. But make no bones about it.... The fans want him here as the main man next season so let's get it done. |
 | Forum Reply | 🔥Swansea City : New changes already, redundancies, ticket office & a myst at 08:32 12 Apr 2025
If they've looked at usage of Fairwood and identified it's not fully occupied with a lot of empty time spots, then moving the academy there with Better facilities would make sense, only if it doesn't mean less quality time on training or less academy teams. I suspect seniors and U21's predominantly train mornings and early afternoons and U18 academy teams (and below) training late afternoons/early evenings. So the timings could work. The sale of Landore could certainly boost the coffers if it's deemed surplus to requirements. With regards to redundancies, it's the harsh reality of the business world and whenever a new CEO is appointed it normally starts with a review of how costs can be cut and processed and be made leaner. That's not to say I think closing the ticket office is a good idea. However selling tickets in the club shop as well as the ticket office could improve customer experience as you could now get a ticket and merchandise and only have to queue once. As for the new kit supplier.... It wouldn't at all surprise me if you found a link between The Terrace and Gorringe. Is he a nin-exec.board member? Inverter? Or was he at uni with the founder Sewell?? Something doesn't smell right that Gorringe appears to be a very loyal customer to "The Terrace" wherever he goes. |
