are we safe, yes or no....
at 09:24 10 Apr 2025

Yes but also there are 6 other clubs below us too. They can't all win, especially as they play each other. Would take a ridiculous set of results to go down, hence 500/1 odds.

Sadly, I think preferring to back Europeans is a bit like preferring not to back Irish horses in the National - limiting your chances.

I've gone Danny Willett at 400/1 to try and get a bit of a run - ex Champ of course and usually plays well here regardless of his woeful form. Easy!

Yes Ned, I wouldn't change my stance if we get relegated. If we don't, I don't think many would have kept us up the last two seasons with the personnel has had.

Now, I am not one of those privy as to whose responsibility the recruitment and fitness disaster is, so I am also aware that my view is based on my belief that he has been dealt a really poor hand of cards.

I know if that isn't the truth, then perhaps he isn't as good as I think he is, but that is what I believe.

I've met a lot of QPR fans in my life, a lot. I haven't heard many venture the opinion that Marti should leave, and that Richard Thompson was some kind of legend.

I will say it now, losing Marti will be an adject disaster and unless by some miracle they find another excellent manager / poor sap, we will plummet. I think he's done a brilliant job, totally hindered by inexperienced, arrogant fools all around him.

Not even Steve Evans would put up with this. At least he might eat Nourry before Nourry eats himself. Would be quite a race.

Cook's been offloaded! Thought we should have renewed his contract myself.

Seriously - did no-one do a Communications course at any point? Speak in plain English!

Think you are confusing two posters there mate - I was referring to Steve, not you.

I respect your arguments but don't give it the old "myths" and "facts" rubbish to try and debase someone else's opinion. I lived through that era, went to the games, as did my father and friends and those that are still with us don't agree with any of what you are saying. That's your prerogative, we may be wrong and you be right, but it doesn't make my opinion on what happened a myth, no?

Well, we reached a ceiling that your man Thompson decided upon and imposed.

"7 or 8" signings from winning the title - got to disagree with you there. A box to box midfielder better than Barker alongside Wilkins and if they had stayed fit we could have been sniffing top three. I wouldn't have swapped out many of the others - perhaps a better back up for Les and a couple of better squad players, I would really have fancied us to be at least there or thereabouts, as they say.

I seriously don't understand why you would rather, even now, that your man had taken the money and ripped the side apart rather than have a serious punt by not selling and using perhaps a little of Daddy's money to buy that midfielder. Strange.

As for your argument that his nuance allowed us the funds to sign Yates and Hodge - as Ray would have said - my word.

Anyway, agree to disagree. Fascinating how it can be seen so differently. I guess you could always enjoy the Wegerle stairs rather than watching the great man himself.

They know something that we can all know ... there are five teams between us and the drop zone and we currently have more points and a better goal difference than all of them (bar one who has the same). With only six games to go, it means the likelihood is that we need at the very most 3 points to be safe. They are saying it is 22/1 that we don't get 3 points from 6 games. Which is about right I would say, even in our current form? So of course we can go down, but it is still fairly unlikely.

And they lose to nil. Not sure if this stat is in PL history, Div 1 history or all league history, but for one of these they are the first ever team to lose 8 consecutive home games without scoring a goal.

How very Rangers that in amongst this history-making run....we let in six. :-)

Yes thank god we rested them - and now as a result everyone is fit and firing for the crucial run in. Hurrah!

"his personal money" - ha. You make it sound like he earned it like Jack Walker or something, rather than it be the family fortune.

We can argue about the merits of keeping players rather than selling them at the time, but "great chairman" ?? Come on. Saying "yes" to offers that came in, wow. How difficult. What else did he do to make him a great chairman? Win over the fans? Build a new infrastructure? Keep our best managers? In that interview he gave a few years ago even the man himself didn't rate that he did a good job.

I've heard it all now, not since someone posted that Ray "did OK" for us as a player have I been quite so taken aback.

Totally disagree. I agree with the bloke on the LSA coach (maybe it was me :-)) - at the time we were different, football was different. Right at that moment we needed someone to go for it with the sniff of glory in their nostrils, not some far-sighted view of alleged financial security.

We weren't protesting because he didn't go out and spend £10m of his own money, we were protesting because he was running it like a business he needed to make profitable. Of course your argument has credit, but where was the fun? The hope? The glory?

I think you are giving the nepo baby far too much credit anyway, in my view he didn't have a clue what he was doing. Knew nothing about football or business at the time. Think he has admitted that himself since.

Bah.

Lord, I've argued this before but all this pro-Thompson stuff is emotionless hindsight / revisionism of the highest order. Yeah, when I was watching the best team we've had in ages get ripped apart as Thompson sold and sold again, I was really thinking - this is very sensible, actually. Will keep us nice and financially strong so that we can finish mid table in the Championship for the rest of my life.

The people who protested against him were not morons. We were fans, sharp enough (and right) to realise that this was the best chance we had of winning something - perhaps even for the rest of our lives. If that nepo baby (do we attract them or something?) hadn't sold all our best players at ridiculous times, maybe, just maybe we would have won something, or got into Europe.

But yeah - cheer that balance sheet! Balderdash.

QPR’s crawl to conclusion continues with Cardiff bore-draw – Report

Absolutely brilliant, summed up my feelings in a way I never could. Time Team and Olly Murs references quality.

Have set it on to to a couple of Cardiff mates and they think it is bang on.

Sorry to hear that, it is bullying and arrogance, plain and simple. The club bangs on about improving the experience - well how about doing something about it in reality and protecting, at the very least, season ticket holders?

Really sorry to hear that, I was only a few rows behind and saw the guy spitting at you / someone as he was escorted out. Disgusting.

The club really need to get a hold of this "sit / stand where you like" nonsense, it is becoming ridiculous home and away. A lot of the standing are season ticket holders so of course you want to be able to stand in your own spot. There is zero checking from the 12 year old stewards.

I wouldn't hold out much hope for the guy being banned. The cokehead who had a physical go at me, my son and another poster on here last season in the Loft Standing....was back first game of this and many games since. Despite official complaints and reprimands.

Edit: I meant to say that quite clearly the Loft Standing can be "sold out" but if you get a ticket in the family stand it is simple to just come and stand in it. Most people are fine and you just budge up....but....obviously not in this case.

QPR pet peeves
at 12:29 6 Apr 2025

...not including the fact we're always pony.

1) our social media and players saying "at the Loft". No, the Loft is the home end. Loftus Road is Loftus Road.

2) Fans who coach the team for 90 mins. I mean, we all shout PUSH UP, GET IT OUT, or LUMP IT 5 or 6 times a game, but giving a coaching perspective on every single move like they are Guardiola, does my head in

3) the military operation of stewards surrounding the pitch at the end of some drab home gane like it's some sort of powder keg about to go off at any minute

Big stuff, I know. Wondered if anyone else gets the arse about similarly trivial stuff?
