| Your Report | Southampton v Stoke City Your Report added at 23:27:39 Us endlessly passing in front of a packed defence really does seem like a waste of time. After completely dominating for 44 minutes, it took an heroic goal line clearance from Sugar to save this game and possibly Martin's job. The substitutions just seemed chaotic. Well done James Bree for repeating history for getting a last minute winner in this competition. |
| Your Report | Newcastle United v Southampton Your Report added at 19:56:52 I was expecting a proper beating, so the fact that we dominated and looked good against one of the super rich teams was actually encouraging. Ultimately of course it was disappointing, but some encouragement for the future. Sugarara looked good - dont know why he got taken off. Not keen on theatrics but Diaz will become a cult hero I reckon Dibbling and Amo looked good when they came on, not so Archer. THB, FD and KWP as we all thought easily Prem quality. Also as we all thought Macarthy not Prem quality. |
| Your Report | Southampton v Preston North End Your Report added at 07:05:45 This was a complete performance, scintillating first half, professional second half. If we carry on at this level then we can do the autos - damn you Saints making me hope again! Sorry for Gav, but I think this is a blessing in disguise, so much less messing about at the back tonight. |
| Your Report | Southampton v Watford Your Report added at 19:32:41 Exciting game and great ending, but an all too familiar pattern is being established of early dominance followed by a poor attempt at keep ball leading to often fairly mediocre opposition getting back in to the game and stealing or nearly stealing points. I would love to be proved wrong, but I don't believe this team has the mental toughness or this manager the guile to win every game and claim an unlikely automatic spot, but you never know... Not just because of his goal, but Downes was MOM, although an unlikely challenger was JS with two timely saving tackles. |
| Your Report | Blackburn Rovers v Southampton Your Report added at 21:05:05 What a game to choose for your first away one of the season - truly awful. The only excuse I can find that it was very windy. Apart from Aribo, Downes, THB and Sulemana when he came on the rest were very poor. Harwood Bellis seemed very frustrated by his team mates, probably can't wait to get away! |
| Your Report | Ipswich Town v Southampton Your Report added at 20:16:59 Well that was traumatic. The only positive that can be derived from losing a game that we had total control of, is that we can stop hoping for automatic and instead settle for losing in the play offs! As others have pointed out before despite some excellent play there is a real brittleness to this team and Saints always look like we are about to concede. Entertaining game, Stuart Armstrong looked imperious at times, substituting him, Aribo and Frazier was akin to signing our death warrant in this game. Ultimately incredibly disappointing and doesn’t bode well for the Play Offs. |
| Your Report | Southampton v Millwall Your Report added at 17:18:38 Sadly Gav is no where near good enough, Yet another soft goal was the turning point. Even more disappointing was the damp squib of a second half, where substitutions made us weaker. It does feel like the wheels have come off. Without Flynn Downes we are looking pretty average. 3 defeats in 4 have ended automatic hopes for me and on this form we could lose play off place! |

| Your Report | Swansea City v Southampton Your Report added at 16:01:38 Strange match - phenomenal first half and I genuinely thought we would score 6 or more, but second half felt really quite flat and all the subs played poorly. Fantastic form though and every hope of automatic promotion now. |
| Your Report | Southampton v Sheffield Wednesday Your Report added at 20:05:28 What a great performance. For the first time ever that I can remember I gave every Saints player at least a 7, even Manning, who's sublime involvement in the 4th goal almost earnt him higher! Goals 2,3 and 4 were very high calibre. Che went up a level today, possibly to attract Premier League suitors, but I will take it. Have to start believing now, don't we?? |
| Your Report | Southampton v Walsall Your Report added at 18:14:55 Nice routine win in the end, but Walsall should have equalised after casual play from Stephens and Holgate, they both have qualities but seem a significant downgrade on Bednarek and THB. Ryan Frazer on fire! Charley gives the ball away a bit, but his incisiveness does make stuff happen. Nice performances from the kids especially Meghoma. They all fitted into the system well. Word for Joe Lumley, as I was expecting a calamitous performance and he looked quite decent! |
| Your Report | Queens Park Rangers v Southampton Your Report added at 18:43:54 Hard fought win. What a great run this is. We seemed better when Manning came on. Poor old Che Adams, even if he does go in January we will be lucky to get a fee for him. His confidence in front of goal seems non existent. Illas Chair looked the best player on the pitch by a country mile. |
| Your Report | Southampton v Blackburn Rovers Your Report added at 19:05:15 Good to see Saints give someone a thrashing. James Bree much better option to Manning. Edozie looked very good today. Stu Armstrong deservedly MOM, completely dominant performance. Ryan Frazer is the proverbial super sub! We miss Flynn Downes when he's not there. Aribo looks strong in this league. Mara is maybe, just maybe a better option than Adams. We should have had a penalty in the first half, but still prefer life without VAR. |
| Your Report | Southampton v Birmingham City Your Report added at 19:52:29 Enjoyable game and fully deserved win. Good team selection - surely our strongest. Impressed with Bazunu who is really gaining in confidence and looks a different animal to the frightened kid of last season. Bree is a big upgrade on Manning. Flynn Downes is very impressive at this level and was MOM in my opinion. Substitutions really worked today including Aribo who beefed up the midfield, where we can be a little lightweight. So glad to be free of VAR, not just because it worked in our favour today with goal 1, it just kills the spirit of the game. Crowd could have done more to lift the team during the "dodgy spell". Always good to see Rooney lose, well done Saints. |
| Your Report | Southampton v Rotherham United Your Report added at 11:19:16 In truth this was daylight robbery, their goalie was MOM by a country mile. The substitutions made us much worse, so what was the point, I can’t believe these players can’t do 90 minutes with a 2 week break coming up. If we keep the first 11, we win the game. Bazunu’s positioning for their goal was awful. When Rotherham were pushing for the equalizer the lack of urgency on the break was naive in the extreme, to play tippy tippy instead of using the space - I think this is what caused the booing at the end. Clearly play offs is the best we can hope for. |

| Your Report | Southampton v Leicester City Your Report added at 16:00:41 Great effort, but Iheanacho should have scored a hat trick and then we would all be accepting relegation, instead of clinging on to a thread of hope! Should probably give the poor kid in goal a break - it seems mean to keep playing him. The first 3 subs made us so much worse, surely Tall Paul, Djennepo, Stuey and Edozie are better options? Shout out to ANM who finally looks like he cares and to Theo for rolling back the years for an hour! |
| Your Report | Leeds United v Southampton Your Report added at 10:27:32 Oh dear, honeymoon over? To be honest I feel sorry for all the managers this year trying to get a tune out of this lot, other than Latvia and JWP it was a disappointing performance. We just don't create hardly anything in open play, so we rely on set pieces, that's about all we've got. Bednarek always seems to be at the centre of a catastrophe, at least Ralph shipped him out..... |
