Superb again today and fully deserved his goal, unlucky earlier in the game, decent save from their keeper early in the first half. Offers so much for us going forward, him and Smyth are also working well together on the right.

Agree with most of this, Morgan, Morrison, Varane, Saito, and Nardi, are all showing signs of being very good recruitment, add Kolli and Lloyd, we have some really promising young players, with Dembele to come back, we could be seeing some good football.
Great support and atmosphere today, and a well deserved win.
MoM for me was marginally Varane, close between him, Morgan, Smyth and Dunne, also worth mentioning Morrison, switched sides and played with 3 different partners and didn’t put a foot wrong .

Playing very well at the moment and becoming a real threat for against any opposition, very unlucky not to score again today, but provided a great assist for Kolli, links up very well with Dunne also.

Great performance today from the whole team, midfield 3 completely dominated, with Varane my MoM. Great support and atmosphere and a well deserved 3 points.
What a difference 6 weeks make, 5th in the form table and 14th in the standings. Players coming back from injuries for the busy Christmas period, all of a sudden we have reasons to be cheerful.
Merry Christmas

A very good performance to get a point, agree very passive in the first half and struggled to get out of own half. Better in the second half mixing between playing out and lumping it long. Great goal from Smyth, he does get lots of pesters for his lack of quality and end product, but that was a sublime finish today! We are defending much better as a team and becoming hard to beat. Plus a few now chipping in with goals. A weeks rest now until Preston, hopefully a better performance to give us some festive cheer!

Had an indifferent start to the season, but has picked up the physicality and pace of the league, a very good acquisition. He looks like a good player, calm, composed and confident with the ball. Both him and Morrison are a large part of our turnaround in form.

Paal

Lots of player thread’s around so I though I would get a few opinions on Paal.

For me he has regressed since last season and is a weak link, he often plays himself or others into trouble During the transition phase with loose passes. His distribution is quite poor, and he is often out of position or leaves huge gaps for wingers or full backs to run into, Morrison seems to cover for him a lot.
Although young, Ashby offers more for me?
Thoughts.

A brilliant performance today, given the circumstances. You won’t see many better tackles than his today, we were looking across the pitch and thought Saiinz was through, unbelievable recovery and tackle. He may not be the most gifted player, but you can never question his commitment to the cause.
My grandson’s favourite player, a top man!

Unbelievable performance and result, well deserved. Performances have been improving over the last few weeks and confidence growing. Kolli MoM for me just shading Dunne who was superb today. Big shout outs to Saito, Morrison, Morgan, Varane, cook and Ashby, looking like a half decent team now. Not sure where we go when some of the injured players come back, apart from JCS, Frey and Dembele, will anyone else improve us.
On a side note, got a haircut today with the Barbers against Prostate Cancer, got chatting to Sam Field (top man) he told us we would win 3-0, can’t believe I didn’t put a bet on 😂

Looks like a good player to me, very calm and assured on the ball and has a decent passing ability. He’s been well schooled at Bayern, can see him and JCS as the two in the centre of a four.

Our summer signings are starting to get used too the pace and physicality of this league. Hopefully we can keep improving and get ourselves into a better league position.
If today’s performance is anything to go on, better results are coming.

A very good team performance today and we did look a threat going forward. Waftford haven’t lost at home this season, but we pushed them more than most, they were lucky to still be 0-0 at HT. They improved in the second half, but still didn’t create any really good opportunities. Great defensive performance from the whole team, Madsen and Saito with great all round play today, and Celat is starting to look like the stiker we hoped he was, two good efforts today and unlucky not to score. Everyone working hard as a team. I’m sure we would all have taken 5 points from 3 games!

Very tough watch tonight, but credit where it’s due, the whole team worked hard for that, Nardi MoM, with Celar, Varane and Saito also being mentioned.

I’ve slated Celar previously for his lacklustre, inept performances. What a difference a goal made, the first was a decent finish the second was so much better, calm and assured. Hopefully he can kick on, he certainly seemed to gain a yard after the first tonight.

Great away support as always, 3 points, and closing the gap!

Can’t believe he hasn’t benched Celar, after the miss on Saturday his confidence must be shot, Add to that, he’s really not very good!
Jimmy is due a goal and so is Saito, a nervous 2-0 win.

I’ve been saying for weeks, he’s a dud, can’t jump, awful touch, yards of the pace of the game and completely out of his depth.
He should not start another game, he wanted the Pen today and took the ball from Madsen, unforgivable to not even hit the target.
I was surprised he came out for the second half, Alfie Lloyd showed more in 30 minutes today than Celar has in the last two months.
On a positive note, the performance was better today and we could have won the game, Stoke didn’t look like a particularly good team.
Frey is back mid December, until the stick with Lloyd, at least he tries and puts himself about, with Celar we are playing with 10 me.

Completely agree, a dreadful miss in the first half. He just doesn’t seem to have the desire, willingness or ability to influence a game. Far too often yesterday he ducked out of a challenge in the air and on the floor, his touch is woeful very rarely finding a teammate.
I hope I’m wrong, but I just don’t see a championship level player?

Very good performance, let the game flow and a good amount of physicality. Got the red card spot on, didn’t rush to issue it, took his time to make the right decision! Better than most others in this league?

Superb performance today, as someone said earlier, since his suspension, he’s come back a different player. Looking a very astute signing. Certainly got great fitness levels, he was everywhere today and involved in so much of our good passages of play. Certainly adds the bite we need in midfield. Foe me Saito should be on the left, Ashby did ok, but he isn’t ready to play every week, Celar just doesn’t look like he’s anywhere near good enough, still early days, granted, but, he just doesn’t seem to have any awareness or confidence. Frey is first choice when fit. 2 good points in the last 2 games, although, we missed a good opportunity today to win?

Have to agree, they can’t play together, far too lightweight for the Championship. He’s got to play either one with field, Colback or Varane. Unfortunately ones injured and the other suspended, leaving only field as the defensive midfielder’s and with Paal playing poorly and neither Santos or Ashby up to the rigours of the league yet, we are struggling against the press and loosing the ball in our own half. Marti must see this, when JCS is available again and Colback or Varane, I think we will be better defensively and not keep getting caught out.

Agree with you, he’s a hard working industrious player, unfortunately he lacks a lack of real consistent quality, He’s a great squad player and has the ability to impact a game when coming on, but for me he shouldn’t be starting until he shows the consistency we need.
You cannot fault his attitude and work rate, he always puts in a shift
