Fair point. No argument from me.
Willesden, Kilburn and Harlesden gone up in the world since then. Wembley hasn't fared so well.

North West London for me

My mum is still angry that they merged Wembley (considered posh) to Willesden (not considered posh) in the 1960s to form the London Borough of Brent, and blames Wembley's decline on that.

Having lived 200m north of the north circ for 22 years, I also considered my address "Wembley, Middx, with a Harrow postcode" although technically Middx didn't exist

To confuse matters more...I give you Greater London ... which is an adminstrative area that contains all 32 London boroughs including Brent and therefore Wembley and reflects the urban sprawl that London has become.

Post codes are just that...post codes... they belong to the Royal Mail I believe, which is a private company and has no bearing on actual borders.

A great piece of writing. Very apt but quite depressing at the same time

Loved the line .. " that not even Labour wants anything to do with the inheritance our next manager receives."

The latest indie band from Ireland. From their new album Come & See.
A little bit Fontines DC, a little bit Idles ... Catch them in a small venue while you can

As others have said, Valetta is stunning and Mdina and Gozo also great. We found the St Paul's Bay area and St Juliens a bit crowded, but should be ok this time of year. Two hidden gems...if you like classic cars there's a great museum in Bugibba and if you like reggae (proper reggae), there's a reggae bar on the very tip of St Paul's Bay at Qwara point. It's a bit hidden away, not very 'polished", but all the better for it

Possibly the best city break in Europe

Don't know what your thing is but we really enjoyed

A cycle tour...it's really flat and you can choose Cold war/WW2 or a mixture of both as your theme. Best way to see the city and with a guide
Eat in the Turkish kebab restaurants...Lots are just take aways with a few table and chairs or a full on restaurant...way better than the UK offering...some of the best meals I've ever had and not expensive
The Stasi headquarters - perfectly original
The Stasi prison - guided by the ex prisoners
Classic Remise if you're into old cars ...in the old tram sheds......Got to be £250m of cars here, many being worked on.
And best of all if you're into bikes is the East German Motorcycle Museum a stone's throw from Alexanderplatz...small but perfect. Can be done in an hour.
Checkpoint Charlie is a tourist trap, but worth spending half an hour there

A fabulous city

I wouldn't recommend the open bus tour. Rip off prices and very poor headsets. Also be careful of having a drink on the Ramblas....they have different price structures depending on where the table is. Book the Sagrada Familia in advance or you may not get it. Wonderful city but keep your wits about you.
