Dirty Old Clown : Banned

No it should be more than an additional 3 if it is a clear case of intent with the elbow after that kick which was clearly done with intent. How much damage could one instances ike these cause to a player affecting their career, lively hood and family.
There has to be levels of protection within the game, injuries happen often as a consequence of targeted play. How hacking players down with no clear intent of trying to go for the ball isn't a sending off offence is beyond me because of the injuries that could be caused, players do it knowing they will be quietly praised by managers for taking one for the team, they wouldn't be held in such high regard if the offence means down to 10 men and a three match ban. It also spoil the game the dark arts that made Italian football unbearable to watch when whole league games were first televised on Channel 4, or S4C for us are now firmly entrench in so many sports.

Yes Matos did his work well to suss Wrexham out we were comfortable for one point though lucky to get the three, as pointed out we control the game and made them look poor, games swing back and forth against good team but we don't want to throw a points away from good position as we have done.
At some point managers will try and suss Matos thinking out, let's hope he continues to outwit managers while making sure his team is set up to not throw points away and create our own luck by being sensible in the pursuit of the three.

Windass got shut down as did the rest of their attacks for most of the game, a good team defensive performabce enhanced by a third home win.

In wasn't just Cabango who marshalled Moore out of the game Galbraith helped and with Burgess dealt well with the balls that Moore did win, very early in the game when Moore had the better of Cabango and typical of his dad Josh Windass was playing off Moore making good runs and like his dad Dean was a threat, Cabango and all the back four eventually got to grips in doing their defensive role, to some extend Galbraith played like Britton did against Crouch ensuring the tall lanky player could not use some of their different skills at their disposal namely getting the ball down to their feet to bring other players into play while ours centrehalves dealt with the aerial threat. We are fortunate that Galbraith is exceptionally good in the air it is a skill that all footballers should have, Tymon and Vipotnik both seem to have up their game in that department.

As for Ronald being physically weak, he is not as we have seen by relatively good defensive displays, the same could be said of Parker when he was played like Ronald in both defensive and attacking roles.
Back to Ronald's weak playing, it is not as a winger he is expecting fullback to let him know they are there and test the winger especially early in the game. Ronald knows challenges are coming in and knows he is going to be fouled from behind and acts accordingly previously getting fullbacks booked for overly strong challenges, Ronald going down under a challenged is part of the game looking for fouls , Eom has , Widell has it is a part of the game that as fans of football no-one likes to see the over done with the theatrics but we know players are taught to try and influence the ref. The Championship is a more physical league in some ways and even in competition on the world stage referee's seem to be letting things go in the earlier stages of games until the initial confrontations settles down. As players and game skill levels of speed , thought and deed are higher , the dark arts of the game can be hard to interpret even with the use of VAR.
We have seen our players who need the tempo to be higher struggled to deal with balls they are expected to deal with instead of the ones that make the best of their undoubted skills, it does seem the ability to change that tempo quickly to go from slow measured play to quick incisive play has been evading us, we have been either been overly cautious or hell bent on getting players forward quickly throwing caution to the wind giving no thought to what the opposition can do.

Under Matos that has seemingly changed Tymon did not get forward as often ensuring the flank was well guarded against Wrexham, I though in that initial part of the game Inoussa needed to drop back quicker to stop the winger cutting back inside getting dangerous crosses in.
I though Stamenic, Widell and Galbraith were able to change that tempo quickly from the middle of the park to create problems which with the right play or control from
forwards should have resulted in more clearcut chances closer to the goals, we had caught Wreham out of position and didn't capitalise.
I'm sure Coventry will try and do the same but be more clinical but if we get parts of our game right which I think we are more than capable of I think the game will be more than a "free hit"

He is not a Premiership player yet many would say he wasn't a Championship level player last season, me included but you have to give a player a certain amount of time to develop , there were glimpses last season his resounding finish off Allen clever ball an example. Is he a good Championship level forward now you have to say yes his preformances and number of goals scored have improved this season and in the last couple of games the issued raised namely challenges aerially have improved. He is getting balls played into him now which he has taken after good movement from himsel. Players on the ball are looking for that movement. Do all the things he tries come off, they never will because good defences look to combat the problems he causes, it does seem as if the percentage of success in the things he does try is increasing, good movement by him, the players around him, the right balls played into him, the team as a whole getting the ball higher up the pitch quicker as well as players to support him. The first choice forward for the team, it is up to Idah and Wales to show they can add competition up top.

Without a run of games Wales is not going to be able to prove he can get up to standard required, the same can be said of Parker but can we afford to give them those run of games to see what alternatives they can bring to the team when needed?

He has come on leaps and bounds from his original form at the club, is that down to better service, his desire to improve or better team work to getting him into position that he can be more effective. Last season his aerial challenges for the high ball were woefully bad, that has changed at the very least he is making life harder for good centrehalves and add both Ronald's and Inoussa's as outlets for the aerial balls we seem to be able to get and keep further up the pitch and quicker add Widell movement and skills, which still need improving, we look a handful for defences.

We are creating spaces for playing on the ground by being competitive in more facets of the game, hope that continues to improve, especially cutting out the error mistimed or unnoticed run, poor passing and getting caught with the balls at our feet with no options available.

Agree it is a team game and Matos on first impressions seems to appreciate the value of players who he has picked for different situations , can we call players that a selected for the bench as being dropped or can we call it a better use of resources.
Testing time for him and the players over the Christmas period a good if somewhat fortuitous start but sometimes as a team or a manager you have to make your own luck.🤞🏼

The free hit was the Man City game in which we stunned them with the movement up top and the support given from players coming from deep, then after the goal we dropped off to defend letting them build and build pressure until we had no outlet or play up top. We have seen so many games that we get ahead and then cannot get the balance between attack and defence right at times going all gun ho forsaking any thought of defence and at others times trying to defend deeply with players who are more attack minded inexperienced defensively who often end up making mistakes.
Coventry is not a free hit there are 3 points on offer that we really could do with, would I settle for one maybe but I want us to compete using the goal scoring prowess of Vipotnik while keeping the defensive part of our game tight, which I think Matos is trying to do. Tymon not making as many runs forward ensuring our defence tries to remain solid and similarly with Galbraith on the right but letting them get forward as and when able and needed, no need for them to go dashing forward especially if defensive cover is not in place.
Coventry will be expected to come at us and holes will appear hopefully to be exploited with quick incisive play

That would be the goal two games ago away against Stoke, this season Vipotnik has also got across the front post in the six yard box to head home a goal and had one from a tight angle also in the box from a through ball, another to his feet at the penalty spot where he had one touch turned and shot.
Goals often come from getting balls quickly into the box with good movement which catches defend out or puts them in a awkward situation, often it is about the understanding within the team, players knowing where the best place to put the ball to keep pressure on the opposition while suiting the players skills to score goals.
The putting in of slow lofted crosses smacks of desperation but if a team as a whole starts to feel the pressure then anything could and does happen as in the Wrexham game and as has happened in a number against us, obviously quick whipped in balls into the box are preferable as most well organised defences can cope with slowly delivered crosses.

I'm rarely wrong? I'll take it you got carried away, we are all often proved wrong usually when we are on a good run. Part of life setting ourselves up to be brought down to earth with a bump.In this case I hope you are right.
Good run of home games for Matos but will be happier to see his winning streaks continues away from home and against teams in the higher positions in the league.
Vitor has come in and with a fresh look at the players at his disposal and picked his team as he see things very much as Sheehan did during his caretaker role it was only when expectations rose Sheehan abilities were called into question given his results. We shall see how Victor's tenure develops as opposition manager sees how he sets his teams up of adjust their teams accordingly as they have previously done to overcome the previous one dimensional tactics of our managers.

Crosses such as Widell's which Vipotnik dispatched, on the floor in behind the defence isn't Vipotni's game? We have been outdone by such balls which have kept Burgess goal scoring tally high.

Nice to be winning games again but you have to look at the quality of the teams we have beaten. Will be happier when we start beating teams high up the table. Want to see incisive play at a tempo that exposes teams weaknesses not at a pace that exposes ours. As much as I want Galbraith in the centre off midfield the fact we can now compete aerial across the back four is a plus, nice to see Tymon getting the right defensive side of his winger to attack the aerial ball, close enough to intercept passes to them while also not getting caught out with the ball over the top, you must remember that this league has some very good wingers and at times fullbacks need help when they have balls at their feet, in that first twenty minutes I don't think Inoussa got close enough to help Tymon to stop their winger getting crosses in hence the OG, was that the reason Ronald and Inoussa swapped sides? Matos observation and he changed it? Who knows scrappy game in which we had good possession quicker higher up the pitch with supporting players but bad decision making so we're unable to finish move off as we wanted and should have done.

Is it a case that nothing can be done retrospectively with regard to Galbraith challenge as the ref gave the yellow card, as for the other incident don't know the circumstances or if the referee was involved if he just missed it then I thought retrospective action can be taken?
Anybodies thoughts on the incident in the middle of the park which left our play in a heap on the floor it looked as if their player after playing the ball went through our player with excessive force but the referee missed it, did Parkinson have anything to say about that incident?

As for O'Brien I didn't think he deserved the boos he received coming onto the pitch and nobody like to see a player so upset because he knows he will miss an amount of playing time.

Instances like that should be look at retrospectively with complaints made, all well and good saying referee's are being influenced not to give decisions for theatrical play but the reverse should be in place for this type of cynical play, we have seen McLean's play so often and it should be highlighted so that referee's can look out for it and act accordingly.

It does appear that at the start of games teams are really trying to get at us and disrupt our play but have we now seen a change in mentality whether it is having to get back into games after our defences have been broken by that pressure or not we can turn games around at least at home and starting to getting results. I will qualify that comment by saying we have played some poor teams in our last three home games teams that seem to be one trick ponies who have stuck to one plan on how to win a game and have been found out.
We will see if things continue to progress and hopefully we can adopt that mentality away from home where the pressure applied by the opposition can be expected to be more relentless. Can we hold firm and get the ball forward well enough to punish teams as they press up.

The thing is as has been said when he cuts the theatrics out he is a strong physical player able to cause problems in the air for defenders able to easy them off the ball while in the air and the same goes for Inoussa when they both remain on their feet they make it very hard for defenders and get them having to turn because the ball has fallen into the space in behind them.
Because some of our approach play through the middle has previously been non existant Inoussa, Ronald and Vipotnik haven't really got playing off each other right yet, we have seen ill timed runs off the player with the ball at his feet leaving him isolated or trying to play poor balls, Vipotnik not judging when to lay the ball of quickly or when to hold onto the ball obviously I don't want to see him coming deep and holding the ball but further up the pitch we have seen he is starting to make a nuisance of himself , is he as good at Idah at holding the ball up maybe not and he is now starting to get the confidence/ experience to do it and he has the clinical goal scoring ability that Idah appears to lack. If both Ronald and Inoussa get the right ball I think they can also be a goal threat as we have seen Ronald get a couple this season but with a bit more composure could of had more, Inoussa is young and is still trying to find his best form we have seen glimpses and hopefully there is more to come because he causes defenders in all sorts of ways.

Widell is a better ball player than Ollie Cooper who I liked for what he gave the team cover for Manning's runs in his defensive role, winning balls for for the likes of Piroe and Ntcham when asked to play a more forward role, the balance in the team has to be right. I think Widell can run at opposition players with better control and skills to beat defenders than Cooper and he also seems able to now starting to get to grips with the physicality of the Championship thugs that we have to deal with as needed because of poor refereeing, it seems to be the case refs have been told to let the game flow a bit and not fall for the theatrics but it does seem as if some of our players are not as experienced as to when to go down and do it convincingly.
Eom and Cullen may be considered strong subs to bring on but maybe a bit weak to start same as are Yalcoupe and Fulton, I wasn't sure the likes of Widell, Inoussa, Franco and Stamenic were starting to flag a bit and neither was Vipotnik but were the substitutions correct, it would appeared so as the result reflects.

Did Galbraith get away with one on O'Brien thought it could have been a straight red but thankfully a weak referee afraid to give a decision bottled it to give a yellow. Even with our final goal he seemed indecisive to confirm the goal almost looking for a reason off the linesman not to give it,which there wasn't but he still reluctant to acknowledge the goal.

Will we see five at the back away at Coventry, I want to see Stamenic and Galbraith able to progress further up the midfield with a level of control of ball that commits opposition players to them to leave gaps for our forwards.
