Yeah, up until 1959 it was called ‘The county of Southampton’ or Southamptonshire.

So you weren’t affected by The Great Recession 2008 which was the birthing of ‘the age of austerity’?

Top 3 things about being in the Prem

1. Watching our team play the best teams in the country regularly.
2. Having our club and city profile plastered across the globe.
3. The additional revenue it brings to both club and city.

You’re deluded/blinded by politics if you think our country and it’s finances were all ship shape prior the tories last coming to power!

There should be more than enough money to go round.
Two (I know there’s many more) big reasons there isn’t:
1. Tax evasion by both individuals and companies/corporations.
2. Benefits fraud.

It’s the same whoever’s in Government but none of them have the stomach to be honest and tackle it head on, so we continue to spiral deeper and deeper, paying insane amounts annually (approx £75 billion just in interest) on the national debt (now over £2 trillion)!

Potential good news re Tyler Dibling
at 18:55 18 Sep 2024

Tyler’s existing contract (only signed Dec last yr) runs to 2026 with a rumoured 12 month’s extension clause, so anyone comes knocking it’s going to cost them!
Be good to see him get deserved improved terms though, hopefully with further extension!

Who’s ignoring it! You think the club and relevant authorities haven’t done due diligence and are now ignoring safety without ongoing monitoring?
I’ve made the personal decision to leave via Britannia rd, if anyone thinks they aren’t safe then there are options! Leave via Britannia rd, Hang back in the ground for 10mins (I’ve done that loads of times rather than trying to rush off at final whistle).
It’s the same for pre match, just make sure you get there in plenty of time, smooth access into the stadium, none of this last minute rush to the ground 5 mins before kickoff then complain there’s big queues blah blah blah.

You mean Marine Parade (not Britannia rd).

Didn’t Tyler go to Chelsea late 2022 and return V-quickly the same year. Jimmy Jay went there Jan 2023.
I’m sure they’ll both be top players over time!

Temporary (heras type) fencing is nowhere near as safe/secure as the permanent fencing considering its designed purpose.
Southampton fc is a local business and well within its right to attract/encourage fans to enjoy a different offering pre/post match. They’re not doing a ‘Wetherspoons’ and undercutting pubs in town. The fanzones are not to everyone’s liking but there’s clearly a market for them!

The fault here is with your choice of fanzones!
I’d never take my father (in his 80’s) to the Northam one as it’s just too busy/noisy etc (exactly what is was envisaged as being). The Chapel fanzone is much better suited especially if your in block 10.
