Thanks, Steve. I'm always looking for the simple conclusion and for me it is "...fifth lowest budget...thirteenth position". Our best finish since 2016, under Ramsey/Warnock/Hasselbaink, when we still had a fair few of our reasonable Premier players. |

Thanks, Clive. Thoroughly agree about Chair's pass to Eze: best assist I can remember since Taarabt's for SWP at the Bridge. |

"I’ve been struck by just how lethargic and passive Leicester City have been in home games..." AAAaaaarrrrgh!!!! Covid-19!!!! |
| News Comment | Naïve QPR caught in Cardiff trap — Report at 02:38:24
It wasn't BOS's finishing that got me, it was that Scowen and Hugill were unmarked five yards in front of goal centre and left post respectively while BOS was coming at Smithies from a narrow angle and attracting defenders like picnic wasps to an open pot of jam. A gentle tap sideways had a 95% chance of resulting in a goal. Ok, there's a lot of issues, but Holy Cheeses, we're still so, so far ahead of last January to May. |

Loved the 'dog on the playground scaring both sides' line. Nice to hear about the applause for Austin and Furlong. Very interesting report, Clive, especially about our appropriate outcome considering the quality of the opposition. Time will tell. Meanwhile, I'm very happy with ninth. |
| News Comment | Wells fells Wawll with crisp double - Report at 22:59:37
"This is a football team for whom spitting on it counts as foreplay." Is that an original? Probably not, but never mind. Brilliant line! Have to disagree on the mechanics of our first goal, Clive. Kane is coming through but Pearce drags the ball off his feet but doesn't realise, and nor does their #5 Cooper, that the ball is going straight to an unseen Wells. I was wondering why the Beeb text didn't credit an assist and that was why. |

B+? Seriously?! With that god-awful away kit??? Otherwise, a fair and reasonable summation, thanks, Steve. |

A "South African living in Brisbane..." Was Perth full? Never mind the preview being late, Clive, I've been repeatedly checking the Prediction League to see how far I've managed to advance from near the top of Page 3. Yep, just above the bottom of Page 2. |

I liked "Sean Goss, spotted long enough to be forced into a permanent move to the sort of club he used to refuse to join on loan" best. |

"...sets up a second round tie with Portsmouth – the last time we met these two sides in the early rounds of the League Cup, we went on to reach the FA Cup final that same season." So we're on our way to Wembley!!! |
| News Comment | Summer-long striker search turns up Brighton loan — Signing at 05:57:56
I suppose Les Ferdinand's wage might cover half of one, or maybe all of one, at the outside, player's wages. He doesn't seem to be earning his keep otherwise. Not that getting rid of LF would be a good thing. I still don't trust Fernandes' football nous for a second. |
| News Comment | Ball arrival raises old recruitment questions — Signing at 01:10:01
I've never been one to say "what does Les do?", but the signings this season are entirely Warburton retreads. Therefore, despite the spectacular success of signings like Derry and Hill, I have to sympathise with your last question about Ferdinand and Penrice and the overall question about manager-specific signings. Time will tell. |
