The statistics don’t lie. We piddle around with 30% more sideways and backwards passes yet get out-muscled, dispossessed and embarrassed by the patently fitter and better side. Macey saved us from another Bradford like drubbing, Same basic errors that blighted the early part of our season.
Frankly, I think we should be content with a top half finish. We are nowhere near ready for promotion. I would sooner build from here rather than mirror what Ipswich fans have encountered from over promotion. Losing every week is no fun, and don’t we know it from the last 17 seasons. |

Bonne and Hopper now have the nicknames Duff-it and Scuff-it.
Surprised Goodliffe out of favour with the fans, but it is clear to me that centre back partnerships are essential. Not sure who he is playing with, but it sounds as if it is not working. |

We arrived at13:50, too late to climb up the hill to the pub. Then we discover Timothy Taylor Landlord being served on the concourse!

Two full CUSA buses departing 0830.
Dozens by car.
Some by minibus

Rubber Duck, we got ourselves a Convoy!
One downside is no alcohol served to away fans inside the Stadium. It’s also another enormous uphill walk from where the buses stop for the stadium, then a further distance to an away friendly pub. Yet again, somewhat away fan disabled unfriendly.
£5 a ticket, but a £1.50 service charge per ticket , I think they are bankers not bantams.
However, their 20,000 at £5 is less revenue than our 6,000 at £ 17. With our capacity limit of 10,000, we couldn’t drop to £10 without the club losing money. Also compare populations. Bradford has over 500k, Colchester under 200k. Illustrates how reducing ticket prices is a gamble unless local population is significant. We have tried it with Armed Forces etc and it failed. |

Think we need more clarity of question Wessex.
1. For Q1 can we assume home attendances only?
2. Jobserve Stadium or including Layer Road?
If only Jobserve, my guess would be (I’ve not looked them up, so in spirit of quiz).
Q1. Norwich City (10,064), Leeds Utd , Southampton, Bradford when in L1.
If we include Layer Road, I guess 20,000 have crammed in for the Leeds FA Cup game.
Q2. Salford City

I used Wickes - awful experience.
All was going well until the quartz worktops arrived. These had been cut wrong and the sink aperture cut in the wrong place etc. £4,000 of (retail) cost to replace them, so Wickes blamed the worktop supplier, and it blamed Wickes.
After six weeks of deadlock (including no kitchen over Christmas), I went to the Furniture and Home Improvements Ombudsman. This was possibly a mistake as the Ombudsman responded to say his volume of case load was such that an adjudication would be delayed for at least six months, and the arguing suppliers used this as they had a kitchen fitter resource crisis, so the deadlock between Wickes and Worktop supplier continued. It was six months before a decision and nine months before my kitchen was finished!
I have since heard or read similar horror stories with other DIY chains (Wren, B & Q etc). The issue repeatedly seems to be either problems with the subcontractors or with independent suppliers, notably worktops. It didn’t help that in the middle of my debacle the worktop supplier was acquired by Howdens, and the relationship with Wickes ended. My advice; use a smaller local firm that locally sources materials and fits using their own employees. An issue with the big chains is they are always up to capacity and don’t have enough subcontracter resources to do any remedial work. They prefer to upset you even more rather than upset a new customer. Local firms might charge more, but I suspect you will get a more personal service.
To be fair, I am delighted with the finished job, but the process was so painful. |

PGMOL have issued a letter of apology because the U’s were not awarded a penalty when Egbo was chopped down by Hall and Port Vale immediately scored..
I’ve lost count of the number of apologies now received. The issue seems to be VAR has sucked up so many experienced officials we are suffering from over promoted incompetents, albeit this incidence apart, I thought this referee one of the more consistent. |

All goalkeepers do it as they never have to leave the field. Perversely, this means there is no incentive for an outfield player to feign injury. Just leave it to the GK!
Frankly, Matt Macey isn’t that skilled at wasting time given the number of yellows that he picks up.
We all moaned when + 9 minutes were added after 90 minutes, but having watched the Flanagan incident back, I am not surprised.
I thought the referee was unusually good, but he might have given us penalties when Edwards was tugged back and Egbo was floored. However, from the referee’s angle I can see why he didn’t. Do we want VAR? Debatable! |

This question arose last night when Flanagan was made to leave the field after being chopped down and a yellow card issued….. I found this…..
Injury as a Result of a Physical Offence:
If a player is injured because of a physical offense that merits a yellow card (or a red card) for the opponent, the injured player does not need to leave if the assessment and treatment can be done quickly.
Quick Assessment/Treatment is Key:
The key factor is the speed of the assessment and treatment. If the referee determines that the injured player can be assessed and treated quickly, they may remain on the field.
Exceptions:
A player may be required to leave if:
The assessment/treatment takes longer than expected or the player is not able to return to the field quickly.
The player is bleeding or has blood on their equipment.
The referee, in his discretion, determines that the player should leave.
Hence last nights referee was within his discretion to make Flanagan wait 30 seconds before his return. Not very satisfactory in my humble opinion! |

Some fat cat Kuwaiti investors have evidently bought into the glamour of a “premier league stadium” (originally funded by ASDA and other property investors) oblivious of the challenges. They now want instant success and their next move will be interesting given the mechanism for financial fair play rules and MKD ‘s fast falling gates.
I reckon there are many parallels between our two clubs. Both are located in new cities where the indigenous population has remained fairly static and growth has been fuelled by London commuters having zero affinity to the local football club. It may take generations to achieve any increase in attendances in proportion to population growth. The smaller Jobserve Stadium is more sustainable relative to local population whereas MK Dons are rumoured to have the largest wage bill, have the largest stadium costs, and now declining gates. It’s a truly poisonous situation given FFP regulations.
It’s going to be a brave man that takes the job. |
