The Barry Bannan Master Class Match Thread
at 13:04 4 Jan 2026

Come on. Some positivity needed. Before the game was all about Bannon and how he was going to destroy us. Now people are saying we are lacklustre. We have played some lovely football, look secure at the back and are well placed for second half. We have actually been playing quicker and with more one touch which has enabled us to open them up. Poku looks excellent today. Much more confident. Let's look up to the sky and not to the ground. It really is a lovely day.

Kone
at 09:25 2 Jan 2026

I would agree with this. Kone was poor at WBA but not yesterday. I watched him very carefully in the first half and he won nearly every 50-50 shielded the ball well distributed it with goid completion. With that in mind bit of an odd time to start a thread criticising him. I think it is important to remember where a number of our players have come from. Certainly Kone and Burrel are now playing at the highest level that they ever have. This is their first season at this level and in this context I believe they have done well. There you go a bit of positivity for you.

Where are the Coal Mines

Also at the game and would agree with this. Kone played target man really well in first half. Winning ball laying it off etc. Hayden also looked good. Broke up play well and played simply. Agree with others that we are missing Chair. We are very rushed in final third and just kept giving the ball to them or kicking it out for a goal kick. Chair's technical ability gives him that bit more time and this creates space for others. Today was bad but worryingly nowhere near as bad as WBA.
Have to say Josh Sargents movement was really good and not surprised he scored.

Kone superb this half. Won every 50:50 and held it up well. Hayden also good.

I like Flex. Brings the energy at all times of the day. Charlie Brown and DJ Majestik very good but CB no longer there. Andy Mills good also.

A personal thing but I really like how involved he seems to be when we win. Passionate for the team. Oxford away last year just one example. He loves it.

FA Cup Draw Monday Evening
at 21:04 6 Dec 2025

My 17 year old son truly has the bug. I promise him every year we will follow our cup odyssey home and away all the way. We actually enjoyed Fleetwood as they were very welcoming even though we were worse than awful. So I would like a long distance away day please. As you will well know this promise has not as yet cost me much money. Here's hoping this is the year.

A Pub Reopens !!
at 18:16 21 Nov 2025

Aha. Used to be the Ravensworth arms. Drank in there quite a lot. Was the polar opposite yo a gastro pub and was small but had a a nice pool table there. Think local post station made up a lot of it's clientele. Was a serviceable pub. Set back from the main road and always felt a bit geographically isolated even though it was not.

QPR - State of Play

I simply find it hard to believe that Tuck is not being picked. I can only think it is because he is on loan and they want to play contract players. Although writing that it makes no sense. He is an upgrade on our current centre midfield. We have not won in nine and I dont think he has been in the squad for the last 5 or 6.

Wilkie was poor in the fa trophy game on Saturday but the whole team was crap. Lost 2-0 to a team two divisions below. He is only 19 so tough coming into a team that hasn't won in about 9 games.

I was at the Plymouth away game and thought Smith was the best of the young crop. He was strong quick and composed. From this I would be surprised if he wasn't pushing for a first team place next year. Contrary to most I actually enjoyed seeing such a young team. I think Smith will go on to have a very good career.

I'm happy to set up a go fund me page for his legal expenses but think he will be a shoo in for impaired judgement as he is a QPR supporter.

Yes, they had two shots on target. Two goals. The first a massive deflection. Burrel is some player. That goal was excellent. Run and finish. Thought Mbengue had a very good game apart from the mistake. Should be remembered that these two were plying their trade in league 1 not the premiership like a lot of the Southampton players. We are on a run of bad luck and form and will come good. Sticking with my prediction of a ninth placed position at season end.

Unfortunately Tuck is now missing in action at Hampton. Not played last couple and not on bench so must be injured. Also Unfortunately I talked him up and from that point he lost a bit of form. He really struggled against Eastleigh. Could of done with him away at Worthing on Sat where injuries etc meant we could only name 3 outfield subs. Battered 3-0.

I'm in your club and a passive sort of guy. However, when Kone lost possession again and gave away a needless free kick i swore extremely loudly at the TV startling the already fireworked dog and upsetting the teenage children. Saying that I enjoyed the whole game. It was very QPR ish.

FA Cup 4th Round Qualifying

Slightly cheaper to book in advance but ok to turn and pay on turnstiles. Don't forget to get your golden goal ticket and a drink from the outside bar. Beveree trust, supporters group, are superb and ran a lovely coach to Merthyr. Club emerging from some mistakes in terms of ownership and a real buzz round the ground this season. Amazing turnaround of players. There is only one regular player still playing from last year!!
