Thanks for another very entertaining report. After last weekend and the Burton trip I can't believe how much happier I am following Saturday's performance.
I do think that we should be keeping Phillips and am a bit alarmed to hear we maybe courting offers for him? I'd not seen that anywhere and wonder if someone somewhere isn't confusing a club being interested in one of our players, with us wanting to move a player on....
Unfortunately a few of our other younger squad members are not in the same league as Phillips. I like Danny a lot but he was never going to be first choice, Isla looks the real deal and Simpson doesn't want to sit on the bench. Onuhua is a fine athlete but an ordinary footballer and likewise doesn't want to be on the bench. In my opinion, if a young player shows sufficient promise to become a starting player, we should keep them regardless of how happy they are about currently being only "squad" players. In cases where we have had a good look at players over a period of time, I really think that if you're not good enough you should be allowed to leave regardless of age.
I might retract this if Harry sells Phillips and buys Nico...... |
