Obviously there is a disconnect between Marti and Masden but Marti didn't contribute to Masden having a bad first season that's on him and I don't blame Masden for that. He's taken a while to settle but shows what patience can do for a player like him.
I don't think we will ever fully know what happened. Which is a shame as you want closure, like I said before it keeps his character intact for me unless real evidence is proven otherwise.
I never had a problem with a manager who has high expectations for himself if it's conducted in a respectful way. Marti for me was that, Nourry wasn't at the time.
Nourry has gotten quite a bit right and also a lot wrong.
That's also not to say Marti isn't in the wrong in any capacity. But as you can see in that video one things for sure he absolutely respects us as a fan base and knows we stuck by him in difficult times.
I've never watched another teams pre match press conference before, but I was intrigued to watch Leicester City's one with Marti.
Watch from 6.30 onwards for questions about Sat game with us and watch how his body language completely changes when he starts talking about QPR and especially the fans in which he still has such a great affinity for.
I miss Marti, like I still miss Warbs. Both men of integrity. Set a professional standard from the off and didn't accept anything less. Those are the sort of people you want managing and coaching a team.
No one besides who were involved fully know what happened in Marti gardening leave so for me his character stays intact. Nourry certainly hasn't improved in this area of club management.
Marti inherited an absolute shit show when he arrived and steered it clear which was an absolute miracle.
If I was at LR on sat I'd definitely applaud. I've very much warmed to JS now but it took a while cause I was so QPR'd that we again messed an opportunity to go further with a good manager at the helm.
But....... This game means much more than it normally would. JS needs to be on his A game and I truly hope we put in a decent performance and a win to show we are moving in the right direction.
Does anyone else think that Ronnie could do a job in midfield like Varane? I'd actually think he'd be a great signing that could fill a few positions. Although it is a position that we have cover in already.
Sterling would never come back. His wages are absolutely astronomical and go totally against what we are trying set out.
Marti absolutely saved us from relegation not once but twice. He still for me has a very special place in my QPR heart along with Warbs, both men of integrity.
His reasons for gardening leave won't be known (if they ever will) to have an opinion on his character for me.
I think JS is a better coach overall and I've really warmed to him of late, I was very reserved early doors, (not of his own making, more of absolute dispare of how QPR were doing business) but he's quietly getting on with it and you can really see why he was highly regarded and interviewed for the role. Just look at Masden turnaround, not sure if Marti would of been able to achieve it.
CN deserves credit for that along with recruitment. CN also needs to improve relations with Fans, he's still hard to like but I can't knock some of his business decisions as we are overall in a really good place.
Even with the some odd results the place feels lighter and moving in an optimistic direction and I'm definitely enjoying it.
It will be however, properly QPR to mess it up. So there is always that pessimistic side in me that feels disaster is just around the corner.
There is a reason we are not allowed nice things. JS is currently our nice thing! 😂
Are we going to see young players given a chance in the first team soon?
Let's be honest we ain't going up and the team this year looks and plays better than last, so to me we ain't going down either.
CN spent considerable time, effort and money to clear out the youth development and bring in different supposedly better prospects. Isn't that the model?
JS was brought in as he has a reputation for development.
Seems a missed opportunity not to be giving some of these players more of a go or at least be loaned out?
Heard someone say the other day "Field is injured, can't rely on RND for every game and Esquerdinha is a liability"
But that's the point isn't it? Esquerdinha is the exactly the sort of player we need to develop. Only way to do that is to play him, coach him through games. Not saying 90mins every game but much more than he's getting.
You can lump Bennie, Adamson and to a lesser extent Morgan into this mix as well.
It's about getting the mix of first team aspirations and development right.
Feel like although we are inconsistent collectively we still need to be allowing more youth to feature and not stagnate.
Feels like someone has passed away at the club. Gutted.
I just can't get over how QPR continue to shoot themselves in the foot time and time again. It's like the planets have never aligned for us to function like a normal football club (even if normal doesn't exist in football)
One step forwards but 3 steps back.
It's the QPR way. I'm tired and want to get off for a rest for quite a while.
Think we should be alternating between Burrell and Kone to be honest. Not game by game but at least in game.
Will give both a chance to not be so reliant on both but give us something different up there when the game needs it and get a proper number 10 in there instead.
