Wolverhampton Wanderers At Southampton In Pictures Part 2.
Thursday, 13th Mar 2025 13:00

The second part of our pictorial look at Wolves visits to St Mary's Stadium brings us to the eve of Covid and starts at one of the last matches played at St Mary's before lockdown, a win to the away side.

Wolves arrived on 18th January 2020 and at that time no one had heard the words Covid or Corona virus, sadly our defence had also not hear the words keep it tight at the back, despite being 2-0 up at half time through Jan Bednarek & Shane Long, we conceded three times, two of them penalties in 22 second half minutes of madness.

Valentines Day 2021 saw the Wolves at our door again and they weren't baring chocolates & roses, they beat us 2-1, we again led at half time and again conceded a penalty and threw it away, this time in 12 minutes of madness.

Never mind there was always next year, but in 2021/22 it wasn't much better, the crowds were back at St Mary's, but so was Raul Jiminez and his second half goal sealed yet another away win.

That leaves just the meeting between the sides in 2022/23 season to bring us up to date, on Saturday 11th February Wolves arrived, as normal the first half went well, Charley Alcaraz scored in the 24th minute and 3 minutes later ex Saint Mario Lemina departed with a red card being waved in his face, but the usual second half capitulation ensued & 2 goals in the last 18 minutes saw us again beaten at home.
