Surprised Swansea are letting him go and aren't trying to extend his contract.

If he's the same player next season as he has been these last few season it's a good signing and he shouldn't be on silly wages and with only one year left on his contract we shouldn't be paying over the odds.

I'd still rather Micah Richards or someone who will have resale value in 2-3 years, but this is better than Lescott, Dawson, etc.

Ashley is a better player than Micah and won't expect a ridiculous salary. I hope this pans out. Just the kind of measured signing we need to consolidate our position in the premier league.

Sorry guys but I just can't see AW leaving us for you lot... Unless, your owners haven't learnt the lessons of past seasons and are offering £50 - £60 K a week plus a big juicy signing on fee. Plus we would not sell for less than £5 - 6 million maybe more... See our Huw has a reputation for being a stubborn so and so and as we are not desperate for the cash. He may well just make AW play out his contract and let him walk away for free, rather than just take a mere £3 million now. Think about what it would cost us to replace him plus next summer he will be 31 and very unlikely to get a big move / 3 or 4 year deal then.
I can only see AW leaving for a big top 6 side and they havent been knocking yet...
Finally his agent is a typically slimy SOB who has used media to up the offer on a contract extension with us before... So as I started with, sorry guys but I think you are just being used.

If he ticks the boxes, then I can see us offering him something very similar to what you mentioned.

He may be worth 5-6 million but with only a year left on his contract you won't get 5-6 million

Think I'll run this rumour past Blibby the Octopus to see what he says.
Told Me Fat Frank last time.
Could be calamares all round soon.

Better yet, sign Blibby up. Young, can play in several positions, and will boost shirt sales in Oceania.

Blibby had to be circumcised at the weekend so they sent down four skin divers.

Exactly the type of player we need to consolidate, slot him in alongside Onouha and that's defence sorted.

But i'd be disappointed if we are paying him over the odds and i also wouldn't be surprised if his agent is using us to extract a new contract or other offers - he won't be the first or last agent to use money bags QPR this summer.
