Surprised Swansea are letting him go and aren't trying to extend his contract.
If he's the same player next season as he has been these last few season it's a good signing and he shouldn't be on silly wages and with only one year left on his contract we shouldn't be paying over the odds.
I'd still rather Micah Richards or someone who will have resale value in 2-3 years, but this is better than Lescott, Dawson, etc. |
Ashley is a better player than Micah and won't expect a ridiculous salary. I hope this pans out. Just the kind of measured signing we need to consolidate our position in the premier league. [Post edited 2 Jun 2014 0:42]

Sorry guys but I just can't see AW leaving us for you lot... Unless, your owners haven't learnt the lessons of past seasons and are offering £50 - £60 K a week plus a big juicy signing on fee. Plus we would not sell for less than £5 - 6 million maybe more... See our Huw has a reputation for being a stubborn so and so and as we are not desperate for the cash. He may well just make AW play out his contract and let him walk away for free, rather than just take a mere £3 million now. Think about what it would cost us to replace him plus next summer he will be 31 and very unlikely to get a big move / 3 or 4 year deal then.
I can only see AW leaving for a big top 6 side and they havent been knocking yet...
