5-4-1 Against Chelsea? 07:28 - Sep 4 with 3032 views | jacksinceever | I think Chelsea are going to be a special force this season and will take some holding, let alone beating, by anyone. That said I feel we can get a result and possibly even a win at Stamford Bridge, but I feel a change of formation may be needed to achieve it. I would go with a defence of Rangel, Williams, Fernandez, Amat & Taylor. A two-man midfield of Ki & Siggy, supported by Routledge & Dyer on the flanks. Bony would be the lone marauder up front. 5-4-1 Against Chelsea? on 14:08 - Sep 4 by _ | It's great to be positive and think we can win every game but we need to keep reality somewhere near in check here. If we do win it will be a minor miracle. A draw would be absolutely fantastic. FEET.ON.GROUND. |
Do you agree that we should go looking for a win or park the bus? My thoughts... Keep the possession game going when were up against it, to take the sting out of them. Then counter attack at high tempo. I'd also alternate the wingers several times in the game, so that we can vary cutting inside & going to the byline. They could be in- nerves. However, if our passing rate is slightly off then We'll find out just how good Fabianski is.

We parked the bus and looked for the win at OT. I'd be amazed if we don't see more of the same.

Tactics for this one? Fack that... i'm out!! Haha! I think we should pay very close attention to Fabregas. He's the main difference in them this season and he will be capable of cutting our midfield to shreds if we're not careful. Him and Hazard playing just in front of our back four is a big worry with Matic looking after them and Costa bullying the life out of us. This, as Willims likes to say, will be a barfight. I'd just like us to stay in the game as long as possible. Our possession game will need to be at it's best ever against these as Mourinho will make sure they will work their socks off when they haven't got the ball. He likes his sides to counter quick and hard with pain to hurt opposition. Breakdown's in our normal possession game they will be lapping up. We need to be on red alert for this and if we get caught going too gung-ho they will punish us. I'd keep it Steady Eddie, not quite parking the bus but staying organised and as hard working as ever. This game is a nightmare.... these will probably win the league this year.

5-4-1 Against Chelsea? on 14:50 - Sep 4 with 738 views | monmouth | Aye but Leicester could easily have done them. We have to take any chances we get for sure, because I don't think we'll get many. I'm expecting 2-0 or 3-1 to them. Mourinho rarely goes for it if they get one or two up. Lose an early goal or two though and it might be a long old afternoon.

I think that Leicester game may have something to do with the fact they were playing, well, Leicester. And at home. Of course, aside from being unbeaten we could also be described as a "Leicester" which may work in our favour - at least in the first half. I wonder if our start could work against us here?

I was actually thinking that as I was typing - that they took it easy. Yes, I think a bit of hype around top two won't be beneficial. Much rather it was all about them and what world beaters they are, like the Van Ghoul ambush. Still, that's another dimension it the growth of our player, how they deal with that. can't wait. Flexibility is the name of the game and will add a different dimension to our game. However, at home we should adopt either a conventional 4-4-2, or even a 3-5-2, this only played when Leon B is back, unless we have a DMF that could suffice until then?

I think our game is best suited away from home... More room for our wingers. I'm getting excited. You've just got to enjoy it haven't you? Pointless dreading it like some.

I'll only start dreading it if they're 3 up in 20 mins. Also, I'm going up without a ticket at the moment. That's pretty sh*t!!

I agree, Fabregas just has that ability to thread a perfect through ball, and he's a harder worker than someone like Ozil, so it's tough to keep him out of the game. As you say, it's about keeping in the game for the first half. Although his home record is phenomenal, the one thing you notice about Mourinho sides is how he loves to tighten things up in the second half if they're a goal up. If that was the case, you never know whether you might get that chance to sneak a point late on. [Post edited 4 Sep 2014 15:45]

I'd massively agree with that. Being a goal down going into the last 20 or 10 would be a great achievement and very interesting.

Drop Amat?.. be realistic?.. it's a top of the table clash.. if we win this we're top.. that's how realistic it is.. I believe the team that's won 3.. deserve a chance to go top.. we're not under any pressure.. Don't change nothing... I believe we haven't turned up this season... let's turn up at Stamford Bridge!

5-4-1 Against Chelsea? on 02:18 - Sep 5 with 466 views | dameedna | Chelsea will take some holding and anything like a 1 goal margin loss will still be a result for us. Forgetting Chelsea, we must now after 4 games have our most solid team ever without Leon which is a major step foward. With the relative height and mobility of our midfield trio and now hopefully the fitness of Shelvey (which started to show in the last game) we should have a good chance of parking the bus. We have discipline and experience on both flanks and a tank up front to hold up the play, defend corers and free kicks and the ability to score in an instant. No change to formation and no change to line up. Lose this and we have games coming up to change formation. Ki and Shekvey going to have are both are big game players and with Carrol as back up I think we could put up more than a good fight and play some of the football, even if it will mostly be in our half.

I agree with you, except "Lose this and we have games coming up to change formation." - why would we need to? it's working just fine as it is.

Nonsense. Ki will be judged against teams outside the top 6, not the other way around.
