Opposition fans thoughts on Clark on 20:04 - Oct 30 by seasider13 | Its an interesting thread ribble, do we have a genius or a lunatic in charge of The Mighty, sometimes its a hairs breadth separating the two. |
Huddersfield fan here, I'm glad Lee has got another job so quickly but what will he be able to do with that numptie Oyston in charge? If he fails I suppose he can turn round and say can do you expect as you could say about his time at Brum, picking his places is Lee, what next L666ds? anyway back to Lee, top bloke and always has time for the fans and in my opinion turned our club round from mediocre league one into challenging for promotion every season, no he didn't get us up but did everything but, you have to remember there were some big clubs in that division at the time, Leicester, Southampton, L666ds, Norwich, Sheff Weds etc etc and we did well to get close imo. Our Chairman says Lee put his heart and soul into the club and it broke his heart to dispense of his services but it was for his own good as well as ours as he felt the pressure was getting to him, he also said at a recent fans forum that their 2 families still dine out together and he regards him as a good friend. Good luck Lee and The Seasiders

Terrier1908 - great to have fans like you on here - knew it was a credible post as soon as you wrote 'numptie Oyston'. Do you know if he would have been appointed last season when Ince was starting to show his true colours I think he would have been welcome with open arms but sadly what's happened since has tainted fans opinion of the owners so much they could have brought Mourinho in and some would say it was flawed. From what I've read most of the fans from HTFC and BCFC regard him as a bloke even if they don't as a manager.

Best thread I've read on Clark along with Curryman's post - I feel a bit better about his appointment than this time yesterday but as always the proof of the pudding etc etc

I've just noticed we play you last match of the season, lets hope we are both safe by then! I have a question I have wondered about for a while, I know you have a big rivalry with Preston NE but what about Fleetwood now they have risen through the leagues?

Terrier, thats actually a good question. There is no rivalry in the traditional sense - we've only met each other competitively twice in my lifetime, and we hammered them both times. They've spent nearly all my life in (at best) the Northern Premier League, and at worst in the NW Counties/Lancashire Combination (if you remember that far back). So they've always been remote from us, and like most smaller non-League clubs they've never had any meaningful levels of support either. You need fans for a rivalry to develop. Of course that is a bit different now, and some people like to use their chairman as a stick to beat ours. That causes divisions amongst ourselves, which I'd say are far deeper and passionately felt than any any opinions we actually have about them.

Traditionally Fleetwood were that small team just down the road that we could catch a tram to go and visit, and as robbie said apart from two cup draws thats all we've played them in our lifetime. They have done very well in recent years, and there is a possibility that we may play them in league football next season, but i don't feel the rivalry for our neighbors yet, maybe that will change in time, but at the minute, no.

My mate is a Huddersfield fan and says he was gutted when Clark went - had the right temperament and ability to run the club and it looked like they were building. Says they've gone backwards since he left. Don't know if you agree Terrier

My Mum was brought up in Fleetwood, being evacuated there during the war. My Dad is born and bred Blackpool (Sandgrown). Although I'm 100% Tangerine I know a lot of my generation will support both clubs. You do get some "Boys" from both Towns that will happily cause grief given the chance but I doubt my generation will ever consider them hated rivals - I just can't see it. If both Clubs maintain their current league status, and once my generation die off - then maybe.

Anyone else think we might have a rough diamond with Clark? I think he might thrive at a club where there is minimum interference from the Chairman (bar writing the cheques) - hope that he can exploit the loan market before tomorrow like he did at Brum. Good luck to him!!

Do you know I admire Andy Pilley and Fleetwood and think anyone who doesn't credit them for what they've done is being pretty churlish. Have a horrible feeling that next season we could have a mini Lancashire League in League One which we'll be struggling in.

Brassedoff, I wouldn't say we have gone backwards since Clark and you do have to remember we are operating in a higher league now so there's no Wycombes to thrash every week, having said that he did a fine job imo at town and should have been given longer and his 1st season we played some of the best football in 40yrs watching Town with his Keeganesque throwing caution to the wind stuff. Thanks for the Fleetwood replies, sorry I should have put it on the main board I know. I suppose it is like our relationship with Halifax our nearest neighbours no rivalry whatsoever and we always wish them well in their big games.
