Cigarettes on 13:15 - Dec 31 with 2603 views | Swanzay | I gave up cigarettes nearly 3 years ago now, probably the best thing I ever did. I do like a vape these days though.
Cigarettes on 14:19 - Dec 31 with 2568 views | whoflungdung | I was a 30 a day man and packing it in was hardest when socialising in pib. Cigarettes on 13:04 - Dec 31 by Highjack | As a non smoker I often find myself sitting alone in pubs whilst all my companions all go off to have a fag outside together, leaving me to look after their stuff. Smokers also seem to get extra break time in work by just 'popping for a fag' then coming back 20 minutes later 5 times a day. It's not all glamour being a non smoker. |
Take a day's wages off them every week (that's the lost production time) and they would stop taking the breaks.
| Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

Cigarettes on 15:00 - Dec 31 with 2524 views | GreatBritton | I smoked from the age of 14 to the ageof 62. I am an otherwise intelligent person. I vape now because the nicotine fairy still has me firmly in her grip but my lungs are shot and I wish wish wish I'd given up cigarettes a few decades before I did. It's NOT COOL!

Buy an ecig starter kit and start vaping. I know countless people that have smoked for years that gave up on the spot after being given a properly set up ecig. | | | | Login to get fewer ads
Cigarettes on 18:24 - Dec 31 with 2455 views | ymaohyd | For the life of me I can't understand why on earth people smoke. Never touched one, never done drugs although have drunk far too much. I get why people do drugs, if you lead a fuc ked up life with little to stimulate your brain, getting off your tits on whatever drugs is your thing, I get, though idiotic. Ditto getting pissed all the time. Smoking though!!! Your breath and clothes stink, teeth go yellow and puts years on your complexion. Uch

Cigarettes on 19:01 - Dec 31 with 2428 views | Cooperman | I was once a smoker and had many attempts at giving it up - patches, cold turkey, blah blah all tried and failed time after time. Every New Year brought about the same old positivity which quickly turned into a joke sometime on the morning of New Year’s Day. Then I came across a piece in a Sunday supplement where it described the habitual side of smokers; the point being that many cigarettes are consumed around key points in the day. Over and above having the desire to give up it suggested the following: 1. Over the course of a week document your smoking routine, i.e. create a list. 2. Identify the common ones such as first thing in morning, drive home from work, etc. 3. Identify your least favourite cigarette and remove that one from your daily routine with immediate effect. In my case it was most definitely the one first thing in the morning! Therefore not a difficult challenge to undertake. 4. One week later repeat 3) for your next least favourite. Again an easy one; last one before bed. Keep repeating this week by week until you get down to three or four, then simply drop them altogether. The points here being that you’ve already started tackling the two main issues which are i) habit - you’ve torn up your routine, and ii) dependency on Nicotine - over a ten week period you’ve slowly weaned yourself off the drug. To be clear though, your left with the sweetest moments still to challenge; mine were post large meal, with a pint, and getting in the car after work. This is where some willpower is required, but the advice given was to remember what you’d accomplished in the proceeding few months and to not relapse. I didn’t and it worked for me. You can crack it chaps if you really put your minds to it.

Cigarettes on 12:31 - Dec 31 by Jack_Meoff | Check out the book 'The Easy Way to Give Up Smoking' by Allen Carr (Not the alleged comedian). Worked for me about sixteen years ago, the thought of smoking these days makes me nauseous. It's only a slim book, and I wouldn't recommend it if it didn't work. Completely changes your mindset about smoking. |
I read that it put me off reading books!

Of course it’s not difficult. That’s why millions struggle with giving up.

Cos it was deemed a cool thing to do. It’s obviously not, but to a group of 16 year olds dabbling in booze, the opposite sex and so on it was just another step. As a parent I know what advice I’ll be offering.

Just a few points. Nicotine is no more harmful than coffee. https://news.sky.com/story/nicotine-no-worse-than-cup-of-coffee-report-10349589 The 4000 chemicals found in cigarettes are what can and will harm you. In eliquid (used in ecigarettes) there are typically just 4 ingredients. You can get eliquid without any nicotine.

I do not have children. If I did and I had any hint that they were even thinking of smoking cigarettes I would not only encourage them to vape I would buy them the most expensive set up there is and make them take a week long course on how to use it.
