Out of contract Championship players this July. 15:34 - Mar 21 with 10640 viewsEsox_Lucius

Realistically I would like to see Burton's Hope Akpan in the hoops; the rest would be too expensive or "not for us" IMO.

The grass is always greener.

I reckon Onuoha on 20k or something in that region. Still a lot for a Championship centre back in his 30s on our budget.

How did you get to that figure Norf?

Well, presumably, if we got rid of a few we could use that budget to sign forwards.....get rid of Washington, Onouha, looks like Robinson's on his bike, Silla and a couple more - thats a few quid on sales and another few quid of salaries.

Assombalonga £15m
Ashley Fletcher £8m
Martin Braithwaite £8m
Dwight Gayle £8m
Sone Aluko !! £8m
Scott Hogan £10m
Ross McCormack £10m
Kodija £12m
Sam Gallagher £4m just to loan him.

This is the Championship striker market at the moment. Leeds taking a punt on Kemar Roofe cost them £3m. Fulham are paying a loan fee plus all of Mitrovic's wages which will be up towards £50k a week.

It is mental out there. Mental. You won't raise this money by selling Washington (to who?) and Sylla (to who?) and releasing ONuoha and Robinson and nor should we be spending that sort of money on that sort of player. Of them, only Kodija has been any kind of success for the money.

Because the club post relegation came out and said post relegation they were capping salaries at £20k a week and Onuoha subsequently renewed his contract.

And a very nice cap it is. Sweet Jesus, still a shed load of money to kick a ball about in the Championship. Such a shame they can't enforce that with every team.

Personally, i'd love to keep Robinson and Ned, at the Championship really like both of them.

I like the whole team apart from centre forward.

If you want to play a fun game, try and put together an XI of Championship signings during the last year that could unequivocally be deemed successes that have justified their expenditure. 24 clubs, two windows, God knows how much spent in total and it's barely possible.

The Wolves lads have delivered - and never mind the Portuguese, Barry Douglas probably signing of the season at £1m - there's Curtis Davies and Nathan Baker doing as expected, Waghorn and Garner on the cheap, and then the rest - Ollie Watkins, Sean Maguire, Tom Barkhuizen, Ethan Pinnock, maybe Barry McKay - are relatively modest ones that we could probably have been in for ourselves. And Millwall have been a triumph of collective spirit over individual talent.

On that note, interesting that the model we're aspiring to is slowly shifting from Brentford and Barnsley "smart scouting network" type clubs to Sheff Utd, Preston, Wall. (You could argue Cardiff too except Warnock's actually torched a fair bit of cash on squad filler there).
