Is the heavyweight division serious? 07:27 - Jun 1 with 7351 viewsdickythorpe

The "mush" Joshua is fighting tonight is some kind of competition winner surely?
What a fat, useless disgrace he looks.

No interest anymore at this weight.

Boxing is crying out for one world champion, Boxing doesn't need the publicity of another out of date fight like Mayweather and Pacquiao.

He looks a mess but has fast hands and hits hard.

Fury's fight in a fortnight is worse.

Something not quite right with Joshua this week imo. Not convinced the camp has gone well and has a suspicious mark under the left eye.

Could be worth a couple quid on Ruiz, if sparring partner has spanked Joshua.

I wouldn't underestimate Ruiz..

But I still wouldn't pay £20 to watch this fight, Hearn is taking the piss if he thinks this is a box office fight.

Could have been a clash of heads, whatever. Mark under eye clearly must mean he's sh1t and going to lose...

Ruiz took the fight with six weeks notice.

With Miller suspended, what do people expect? Ruiz is a tough fighter, not at AJ's level but still a tough fighter.

Who exactly do you expect to come in with six weeks notice? Fury? Wilder?

It all smacks of Wilder/Fury/Joshua taking easy fights/money as much as possible before the inevitable clash which decides who's the no.1.

You say that, but who is out there?

AJ has the belts, is the draw in the division.
Wilder has great one punch power but fvck all technique - and let's be blunt, lost against Ortiz.
Fury, eh...

Anyone wanting to be the best has to go through AJ. Fury doesn't really want that. Wilder certainly doesn't want that - content to have the one belt and yap from the outside.

Didn’t Dillian White say he was up for it?

But as usual it’s all about the money, so Hearn picked the easiest and most profitable fight to attract the Mexican and American viewers,

This is clearly the case.

The heavyweight division is serious about one thing, milking it for as much money as possible whilst risking as little as possible. Multiple belts, multiple media deals all add up to a money making machine that takes the punters for mugs.

Aj-Whyte would be a sellout in UK.

US, would be very little interest on only 6 weeks build up. Harder sell given AJ previously beat him.

I wouldn't say Ruiz was the "easiest" fight, he's a cagey tough fighter. Could've gone with a Hunter if they wanted an easier fight.

EDIT: Let's alson ot forget the original replacement Hearn, A wanted was Luis Ortiz. The guy who Wilder's team had to convince the ref they needed a doctor to look at a non existent cut/injury to buy him an extra 20 seconds of rest after Ortiz had battered him the previous round. That was intended to set a message to Wilder - Ortiz refused all offers which is telling in itself.

Whyte turned down £4M and the chance to fight AJ, as he said in his own words ...

April 2019

"They wanted to pay me rubbish money in the first fight [and if] I beat him, they wanted the lion’s share of the rematch, which I didn’t think was right."

Round 7

AJ down twice

Ref stopped fight round 7

Mexican Rocky, hands too fast ... Buster Douglas all over again.

At least America knows who AJ is now. Rematch in Uk December.

Casino's had Ruiz 20/1 and AJ 1/16 before first bell

I like AJ, so i feel so sorry for him.

The Mexicans have their champ.

They will need a bigger belt to get it around that large waist.

The good Lord he works in mysterious ways, indeed.

Joshua has been protected by Mr Hearn, you can see after Klitschko fight that Joshua has got a glass chin. This is no shock for me, I have been waiting for this type of result and had a little tenner on Ruiz. Eddie Hearn has done his best to maximize the cash cow, this is big blow for boxing and the big super fights between Joshua/Fury and Wilder.

FIX

How anyone can accept that result last night needs to have a serious think about the crooks that run this sport.

The heavyweight division is a soap opera.

Exactly, to see him walking around after the fight smiling was hardly what you'd expect. Dark forces at large there .
On what planet can anyone believe that result.?

Why would they fix Joshua to lose and f*ck up (or at least delay) the big money bouts with Wilder and Fury?

I'm glad others saw this as a fix too.Joshua looked like he won the fight judging by his smiling face in the ring after. He didn't seem to care..Bizarre to the say the least.Maybe one of the big 3 needed to lose before they'd face eachother and this was it.

Joshua was the best loser I've ever seen and considering what was at stake makes no sense at all.

Another thing, Joshua reminds me so much of Frank Bruno but only in a much less competitive era.Stiff robotic puncher with a glass jaw.

It lengthens the hype? There's so many boxing fans out there that will lap all this up.
Buy the proper fan will know this is all a game.

The real warriors are in the lower weight division, not this pantomime!!!!
