Story of the reason why the cockerel appears on the Kellogs Corn Flakes box. Story of Nancy Richards, Welsh harpist visiting the breakfast cereal developers the Kellog family in the USA in the 1920's. She pointed out that the name Kellog was similar to 'ceiliog', Welsh for cockerel. Hence the cockerel that still appears on the box of Corn Flakes. The colour of the cockerel also reflects the colours on the welsh flag. Never knew that

And one of their biggest UK factories is in Wrexham. In my working days, my company was an ingredient supplier to them, and many's the visit I made there to discuss business, and football, with my contact.

And trampled underfoot by beautiful Morgens, which gives them their unique crunchy texture.

That's what I thought and why I shared it.
You could've knocked me over with a box of cornflakes.

I'm not sure that it is true myself.

After the chap tweeted it the other day, I wasn't convinced by his answers when people were asking him whether it was true. Can't find the tweet now.

I want a mate like Flashberryjacks, who wears a Barnsley jersey with "Swans are my second team" on the back.

I’ve a feeling I’ve heard before that the Kellogg family were originally of Welsh extraction which was one reason they sponsored a Welsh harpist.

It’s believed, isn’t good enough for me, plus there’s no mention of the colours.

Lovely story mind.

Kellogg is a northern English name meaning pork butcher apparently, which is ironic considering he was a staunch vegetarian.

The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which.

It’s a name often found in Scotland. There was some link with Wales though from memory (although it may be that it was to do with the logo) or the derivation of the name.

Don't get me wrong, I've already repeated the story to others in work, but I'm not having it's true though

Astonishing, right again.

It is a name found in Scotland and those of us old enough will well remember the well known Scottish and Wolves footballer Jim McCeiliog meaning ...Jim son of cockerel.
