Shane Long at Bournemouth 19:20 - Apr 13 with 1607 viewsdirk_doone

Long seems to have gone from late sub to extra man on the bench to not even on the bench at Bournemouth. I guess he's no longer good enough for the Championship. How much longer is left on his contract? If we will still have to pay his wages next year, I don't think we'll find a Championship side willing to take him on loan and League 1 and 2 sides won't be able to afford his wages. We could end up paying him all of his Premier League salary to play for a team in the lower leagues.

Read all about it! Saints in "HEFTY WAGES PAID TO PLAYER ON A LONG CONTRACT WHO DOESN'T EVEN PLAY FOR US BUT IS FARMED OUT ON LOAN - LIKE SO MANY OTHERS BEFORE HIM" shocker...

He is only on a years contract with us, he did well at Bournemouth initially, but when they changed manager Woodgate didn't seem to like him and he hasn't had much of a chance since he arrived.

Just because he doesn't get in Bournemouths side doesnt mean he isnt good enough to get in other sides in that division.

This seems to be a veiled dig at the club and the player, but its way off the mark, espcecially for Long who has given great service to Saints an played his part

Actually he's on a 2 year contract I believe. Utter madness to give him this and I hope Saints have learnt their lesson and don't give Bertrand a fat, hefty 3 year contract when he is clearly a shadow of the player he used to be

According to transfermarkt, he's on £3.25 million per year.

Problem with Long is he can’t finish. So that means even in the Championship he isn’t really a useful forward, and it’s likely his pace will begin to go before too long as well.

Well, it looks like we could be seeing him again. He'll only be 35 next month so he could play for us for another 5 years.
