Until Lance Armstrong got caught, it's highly likely that every winner of the Tour de France since the early 60s had beeen taking performance enhancing drugs, including one of Armstrong's biggest critics, Eddy Merckx, who even failed a drugs test himself but is still regarded as a sporting hero. mo farrah (sir) on 12:17 - Jun 27 with 1030 views | Kennington | Drugs IMO are endemic in athletics. Even if they’re not strictly illegal the way many many athletes behave would appear illegal to the average person. For example being infused with performance enhances such as L-Carmitine is not a normal thing to do. But it’s on record that Mo has. The athlete that troubles me the most is Paula Radcliffe, like Mo she made extraordinary gains in her times over a relatively short time period. When things are too good to be true, it’s always worth doing some digging. In Radcliffe’s case, there are very questionable blood results that are freely available to see online, although she was cleared. Her London marathon win on 2003 (I think) for me is one of the strangest modern day sporting results, and objectively looks incredibly dodgy. Yet the BBC while going all out for Mo (Panorama etc.) actually still employ Radcliffe as a commentator. As to Mo’s times, the world has got faster and the modern athletes for the 10,000m have comfortably surpassed his Rio and London times. Not saying by the way either of them are drug cheats but there are still questions around them and many others. [Post edited 27 Jun 2021 12:19]
