Stop digging mun, Pencoed's post was absolutely spot on, yes Scholes was a more skillful player, but to dismiss Beckham as overatted is ludicrous.

Who can ever forget his free kick against Greece to take England to Korea

Yes who can forget Beck's free kick because many thought the Greeks were being robbed, if I recall the Greek coach was banned after the game, free kick after free kick given to England, extra extra time played, Beckham missed free kick after free kick that was awarded to the English according to the Beeb report he missed 5 free kicks the one he scored from deep into injury time was controversial as people thought it was not a free kick, same old England as the saying goes.

Continually being banned by Planet Swans for Porthcawl and then being reinstated.

The Romanian girl who won that tennis tournament after all the good players pulled out (during Covid).

Emma Raducanu was born on 13 November 2002 in Toronto, Canada, and was raised in Bromley, England. Her father Ian Răducanu (pronounced [rədu'kanu]) is from Bucharest, Romania, and her mother Renee Zhai (Dongmei) is from Shenyang, China.
She has said that her parents "both came from very academic families... [in] communist countries education was kind of their only option". Both of her parents work in the finance sector.
Her grandmothers live in Bucharest and Northeast China.

She attended Bickley Primary School followed by Newstead Wood School, a selective grammar school in Orpington, where she obtained an A* in mathematics and an A in economics in her A-Levels.

...sounds like another family we have saved from Socialists like Kilkenny.
I bet they are lovely people and are very welcome to be here and call themselves British.

However, their daughter is a good tennis player, but not the World beater she was portrayed as...hence "over-rated".

What do mean ‘call themselves British’ …?

Are you suggesting they are not British in some way ?

For me she IS British, and certainly more than just calling themselves British.

All socialists believe in welcoming refugees.
Its the right wing nut jobs that want the royal navy to sink small boats carrying these poor people.
Are you one of them 🇬🇧 ?

So, if I move to China now (God forbid) despite not having any Chinese ancestry and not being born in China...I magically become Chinese do I? 😁

Name me one single Socialist country that have more people emigrating to the country than leaving...just one.
Socialists (and their friends the Islamists) create the fecking refugees.

Capitalist Conservative leaning countries (UK, USA) take the refugees.
If the average person says...are we sure they're all refugees, some might be swinging the led. Can we vet them before we let them in please?'...then the Socialists (who want to turn our country into a place people run away from) claim that is racist.
Because you're all a bit thick, frankly.

I don't know about the rest, will look into it, but I can tell you that Calzaghe is from Newbridge, his mother is from Caerphilly and he was born in the UK...so yes, Calzaghe is 'British' and 'Welsh' with Italian roots on his father's side.

Some may say English not Welsh seeing he was from Hammersmith but anyway the facts are that there are many great British sportspeople no more qualified to be called British than Radcanu, if your going down the route of where they were born or where there parents were from, even Greg Redeski the Brit who reached the final of the USA open was born and bred in Montreal

Rusedski wasn't British either, he had a Canadian accent for a start.

Rusedski only chose to play for GB because his girlfriend lived here.
What a joke.
Yet he is still more British than Raducanu because at least his mother was British.

"Some may say English not Welsh seeing he was from Hammersmith"
Yes, some people are full of it I agree.
Seeing as his mam was from Caerphilly and Joe himself grew up in Newbridge with a strong Welsh accent, he is pretty obviously Welsh...
...but I agree, some people will pull all kinds of tricks and spin things in all kinds of ways in order not to lose face.

Mo Farrah...

"Mohamed Abdi Jama Farah was born on 23 March 1983 in Mogadishu, Somalia. Although Farah's family was originally from Gabiley, they were living in Mogadishu, Somalia as his father was a businessman there. Farah hails from the Jibril Abokor, a Sa'ad Musa sub-division of the Habr Awal Isaaq clan. After fleeing from Mogadishu to Gabiley with his family, Farah then spent his early childhood as a refugee in Djibouti with his twin brother...

Does he sound very British to you?
He has citizenship here now because his family were from the part of Somalia which used to be the 'British Protectorate of Somaliland'...some might be thinking, 'oh so the evil empire enslaved them and so it's right we grant citizenship to the great, great, great, grand-kids of the tribal leaders who originally signed an agreement with the British!'

...wrong.
The only reason the British were interested in helping these Somali tribes militarily was because of our interest in putting a stop to the slave trade.
You see, the Arabs and Muslim converts in the North of Somalia would raid this area to take people for slaves.
There was no other reason for us to be interested as the place was dirt poor...and the evil British soldiers of the Empire mainly came from India.
When Somalia became Independent it only took 30 years for War with the Muslims of the North to drive Mo's family out of Somalia and luckily for them they had a claim to UK citizenship.

...but we digress. Mo Farrah is very welcome to live here and represent the GB team, but is he British? No. He is obviously Somalian.
His kids and Grandkids might be British though, which is a different thing altogether.

"John Rees and Bill Williams play rugby for Japan lol it is what it is I suppose."
...is that the measure of nationality now? Whatever sport's governing bodies will allow (in order to win more).
If Uzbekistan will allow you to represent them at frisbee would that make you an Uzbeki?
I don't think so.
