i noticed last night a very sharp turn of speed as he surged forward In the second half Swansea got a bit sloppy but always had the pace to correct for errors.

Opinions eh.
Rodon Fully fledged full international .

So are Chris Gunter and Vinnie Jones, it doesn't mean that much.

Very few Welsh players make it into great club sides. Plenty of below average players play for countries.

Rodon is a good player, but great? You have to earn greatness and he hasn't yet. Giggs, John Charles and Bale earned greatness, Rodon has a long way to go.

Would his career progressed a bit better if he stayed with us a little long but then again I suppose his bank balance isn't too bad and it helped ours.
Shame he couldn't push on with Spurs and take the place of an English International who was moved to a defensive midfield role because he wasn't good enough as a Premier league central defender and then moved back into defence unsuccessfully by a number of Spurs managers leaving them weak at the back. Eric Dier.
Hope he doesn't end up being the defender Leeds need at the expense of Swansea season's ambitions.
But conversely want to see a Swansea boy do well.

It’s an opinion and mine is that Nathan Wood is certainly not a class above Joe Rodon, and the suggestion that he is is laughable. Personally I don’t see Rodon as a top player but he’s twice the footballer that Wood is. My opinion is subject to change depending on whether or not Wood actually does anything in future, but at this point reports of his greatness are grossly exaggerated.

And you are obviously correct.

Their respective bank balances will tell you that.

Only you have used the word great.
OHL is correct.

Many welsh players have played for great club sides.
As well as the world class 3 you mention, then the following did more than ok …

Medwin and Cliffy Jones - Spurs double winners
Rush - Liverpool - won the European Cup in 1984, the title 5 times and a European Golden Boot winner.
Hughes - man utd - premier leagues, European cup winners cup winner, fa cups x3
Tosh - liverpool - 3 times prem and European Cup winner
Joey Jones - liverpool - 2 European cups
Ratcliffe - everton - 2 league winners, fa cup, uefa cup winner
Southall - everton - 2 leagues, 2 fa cups, uefa cu winner
Speedo - leeds united - league winner
Hartson - celtic - 3 x league winner, 2 x cup winner
Mike England - spurs - fa cup and league cup
Sprake - leeds - league winner
Rambo - arsenal and juve - italian league and cup winner, 3x fa cup winner
Yorath - leeds - league winner

Many great club sides there, and healthy welsh involvement.
I am sure there are many more.

Not sure I would call Hartson a great winning trophies in a poor Scottish league is not much of an achievement.

He fell out with a few Scottish managers, and would often do a Giggs and make himself unavailable for them due to a runny nose.

Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

Nah! Willie Miller kept him out of the team because he was a better player and proving it in the Scottish league system.

I think Joe is a classic case of youngsters at an early age not getting enough league football. For his age and ability, he should have clocked another 100+ games by now.

I do not like Joe's body language, He facial expression is one of whinging and complaint. Cabango always looks tougher. I like a stern look of no compromise from centre backs. Not a look of "i am having another bad day".

Winter did a great job getting £11m with £4m add ons. Not much chance of those. I know it is not allowed to say anything good about winter on here. I keep testing the narratives.

Winter was a lot better than people give him credit, some say he was anonymous, yet we had 18 months of Covid and did do a few fans forums when allowed, he steadied the ship but was always swimming against the tide.

We will have to disagree on this one, he was a reserve at Spurs and as soon as a player moves into Europe at the level he was at they are forgotten.

Moved too soon and left too many opportunities to make great memories aside which was a huge gamble, which for me hasn’t paid off.

He only managed 16 appearances for Rennes last season.

Should have played far more for a player of his age

The glass ceiling of the PL as Potter called it. Rodon, DJ and Roberts all had to wait until their twenties to start playing men's football. No interest in blooding our home grown youngsters post-Laudrup (who not only picked out Davies but also had Sheehan with the group until all the injuries closed the window for him).

He played a lot before Christmas and was praised by the manager after that.. 22 games with cup matches.

I got the feeling that there my have been a 'loan to buy deal' in the arrangement which might have been too rich for the French.

For example obligation to buy after 25 games for £8m. (Something like that). This explained his absence after Christmas while playing very well.

Is a TOP player not a great player then? It's just semantics.

You have managed to name 13 players who with my 3 makes 16, is that all in over 100 years of Welsh football?

No it's not, there will be some thers but Wales is a small country and we will not produce MANY top players, there have been more great club sides than great Welsh players.

Davies .. Swansea & Spurs
I have never considered Rodon as anything more than a good Championship CB. Shows how hype can inflate a price.
