Sources close to the Croatian FA believe that Zlatko Dalic could be due to leave the national team job in advance of the start of their World Cup qualifying campaign. Dalic has had a very successful 8 years in the role, including a World Cup Final appearance in 2018, knocking out England in the semi-final. However, a disappointing Euro 2024 campaign has meant his stock is now at its lowest since 2017. With the likes of Luka Modric nearing retirement, the Croatian FA feel that a new approach is required. Ivan Juric has impressed by showing his willingness to pick youngsters in a challenging Premier League campaign for Southampton, and his appointment would be seen as a coup by the Croatian FA. Juric is a fan of a high-intensity game, which he has struggled to impose on a squad which have struggled in their first season back in the top-flight since 2023. It is believed that discussions have begun between the Croatian FA, representatives of Juric and management at Southampton FC. |  |
