The greatest ever FA Cup win perhaps.

Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

Amazing game. This is what the FA Cup is all about ...

There was also a Duffy, Casey and Lacey on the pitch which reminded me of many trips to Moss Rose back in the day...

In fact Richard Duffy made his debut there coming on as a sub for Mickey Howard in a 4-1 defeat in the FA Cup...

A great day for The Silkmen

Thoroughly deserved win and not lucky apart from possibly their second goal.

The Hereford Ronnie Radfotd won over Newcastle stands out for many but the gap between these two is greater
Quite staggering
They have been as forlorn a fanbase as is possible but their new owner has single handedly resurrected them
Good on them
Lovely town too

Poll: Christmas. Enjoyable or not

My dad’s brother lived in Hereford, and got us tickets for the game v Newcastle.
A huge shock.
I played with Ken Mallender and Roger Griffiths about 8 years after that game, they played in the old Mid Wales League, and they said most of the Hereford team had a good night out the night before the game.
That Hereford team played 79 matches that season, with a squad of 17.

In the FACup, the first Premier League club to lose to a team from the bottom division in the football league was West Ham Utd

When they played Swansea in 1999. After a 1-1 draw at Upton Park, Martin Thomas got the winner when Jon Coates passed inside to him. That was one of the stand out wins in FA Cup history as WHIU were a top six Premier League club then wifh players like Rio Ferdinand. As we were drawn away and then knocked them out that takes some beating. I’m not sure that we ever got the praise we deserved for that. Defensively that season wifh John hHollins was our best ever.

Macclesfield beating a much changed Palace team at home is right up there. As was the Colchester win against Leeds Utd.

Hereford beating Newcastle also.

Went to both games, we had two coaches running from Gloucester and Bristol. Anyone on coach one will remember the away game fondly.

Yes I was too. Seem to recall that West Ham equalised with a late penalty at Upton Park.

I thoroughly enjoyed that season and was at Rotherham when we clinched promotion. Along with around 2000 others. So many 1-0 wins that season. What a defence. Freestone, Bound, Smith, Howard, Jones, Price.

I wasn't at West Ham, but it was a memorable night at the Vetch. Ranks as one of the best amongst a long history of spectating.

Yes, a time when the top sides used to play their best XI, unlike nowadays, which is why the FA Cup is a shadow of what it used to be.
I would say that the top 5 would be in this order:
Sutton v Coventry
Hereford v Newcastle.
Birmingham v Altrincham
Wrexham v Arsenal
Macclesfield v Palace

Altrincham was the one for me that stood out as they were away and I expected them to win.
Before my time Worcester beat Liverpool, I've not known Worcester to be a force and Liverpool went on to be a force.

Continually being banned by Planet Swans for Porthcawl and then being reinstated.

Yes but in years gone by when the top teams put out their nest teams the gap in standard of the teams wasnt a wide as it is now, so the Macclesfield win shoukd really rank as the biggest win by a lower league team.

It was a great win but Coventry's side was a first XI side packed with experience.
Palace's side minus Guehi, Wharton, and Pino was full of fringe players and youngsters. They still should have been goof enough, of course, but my opinion is that Sutton's win was better.
I would add that non-league football today is far more professional (if that's the right word!!) than it was 30 + years ago.

Geuhi and Wharton played the full game.

A PL side with those two should have seen a side off who arent even in the national league.

Opinions eh 😉👍

I remember waiting for the Alty result against Brum as i thought they would win im sure Alty had beaten loads of football league clubs for a good few years previously to that and although they were non league and Brum was in the top division and it was at St Andrews, I don't think it was a massive shock that they won, hence why it often gets overlooked as a giant killing.

Altrincham were probably the best non-league side of the early 80's, you're right.
