SFC seem to have woken up to the fact that they are desperately short of centre forwards and can't just shoehorn in utility forwards who can supposedly play anywhere in the front line. The club tried to offload all 3 of Downs, AA and Archer and managed to offload 2 of them. Meanwhile they tried to recruit 2 players who are 6 foot plus and specialise as centre forwards.
We no longer play 4-3-3. We play 2 specialist wingers, a centre forward and a no. 10. The three we tried to offload don't really fit into that formation and we need a specialist centre forward to make it work. If our only centre forward was unfit then we were in trouble.
I doubt that they've fully solved it in this window, but at least they finally seem to understand the problem. That gives me hope for the summer window when, with more options available and some money in their pockets, they might finally get it right.
I don't think this window gave us what we need for promotion, but I'm taking the optimistic view that they now have a better idea of what they should be aiming for. |  |
