Pienaar £6m 09:42 - Jan 23 with 2750 viewswarwickhoop

Been given permission to talk to Pienaar, and spuds have told us if all agreed the fee will be £6m. Is that good money?
Is Classon not worth a punt for half that?

Claasens will be tricky to sign due to work permit issues and a lack of time to sort them unfortunately.

£6m is too much for Pienaar, but it's a sellers market and if we don't have any other realistic midfield options lined up we HAVE to pay it IMO.

I'd rather pay £2-3m over the odds now, than refuse to be ripped off and watch Barton and Buzsaky break down injured in the first week in Feb...

So despite him having not played more than a few games since Tottenham signed him he has doubled in value.....

In that case do I hear £3.5 million for Patrick Agyemang?

We would be royally ripped off if we paid £6 million.

£6m for Pienaar, a Spurs reserve, is a lot of money - that is what this transfer window does when a Club needs players and are in trouble - Harry knows that and so does the rest of the big boys.

Surely Claasens has a dutch grandfather or great grandfather somewhere

Bloody hell no. He's 29!

Alex at 29 for £6m I could just about accept as he's genuinely world-class, but Pienaar has looked decent at a mid-level club, then failed to get into the team at a good (but not top imo) club. And, while his versatility is useful, he's not a genuine centre-mid, certainly not in a 4-4-2. Levy will be laughing all the way to the bank on this one.

Should be less than what Harry paid for him seeing as he has hardly featured at Spurs this season. Harry's trying to raise cash to buy Samba, he can go and mug someone else off.

different players though aren't they? - Pienaar is a left sided central midfielder, who knows how to tackle, is decent at breaking play up and can get box to box throughout the game...

If Hughes is bidding for him, he must be comfortable that Pienaar fits into the system and style he wants to play.

We currenty have 3 centre mids in the entire squad - even if we don't strengthen anywhere else we need another body in there.

£6M......No chance. £3M at most.

Wouldn't we be better off loaning him with an agreement to buy on the condition of staying up?
Would make more sense.

They paid £2mill for him, we've bid £3mill for him, he's complained and wants to talk to us.

It's that player power thing again.

Just remind Levy he's making 50% profit on a player who doesn't play, he'll see the sense even if rack 'em and stack 'em doesn't.

That's a malicious slander. The account's in Monaco and named after somebody's dog.

"Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the Earth all one's lifetime."
