I have loved listening to John Coleman's post match rants! He has real will to win and never looks to defend his players and spout the usual 'pc' rubbish some managers come out with. He comes across as being very honest and obviously has high expectations. His frustrations and anger is really tangible! Listening to the Chesterfield game(on a Wed morning in NZ!) it was so obvious Chesterfield would score after we missed some good chances to go 2-0 up. Does Ashley Grimes need 1 goal to lift his confidence and then he will start banging them in? Who does Donnelly compare to...is he good enough? Also sounds like we really need to extend Ryan Edwards stay in January.
Keep the Faith

Anyone with Daleplayer want to summarise what he said?
Basically we need to learn how to win. Two players made mistakes in the last min for the goal....Wasteful finishing and mis placed passes late on. Also invited them on way to easily late on when they had not threatened much before that. Got to defend balls in to the box better. If the players dont learn lessons he will get rid! Oh and he mentioned Tutte's goal and Lillis save in the last min should be enough to win the game (stating the obvious there) Again he was furious!

As already said, it's refreshing to see/hear the honesty in Coleman. Just hope the team don't make too many more mistakes as I reckon his cat won't be up to the punishment and he'll be round R17's place looking for feline footballs more used to the pain of years of following Dale!
One thing's for sure, with his obvious determination and full season ahead I am far more optimistic of our chances than I was before the Barnsley game.
Torquay here we come.
YOU do not have the right to give someone else permission to tell me what I can and can't do.

It was my first match this season (a local one for me) and very enjoyable too. Five of us went and we initiated sons' girlfriends into the Dale family! There was a team plan and ethic evident and the celebration for the Tutte goal in front of Coleman's bench demonstrated to me the regard in which he is held. Ryan Edwards looks a real prospect and Phil Edwards very sound. Midfield impressive with JK bossing much of the game. Lillis needed to be alert on a number of occasions and was on top form. Grimes looked interested and tricky. Donnelly - too early to say - but ran his socks off. Adebola - can see him fitting in. Both fullbacks good. All in all much more promising than dispiriting fare of last season.

For me Donnelly isnt up to it, so far. His work rate and commitment cant be faulted but having seen all 3 competitive games and 2 home friendlies he never looks like scoring. A squad player at best.

He scored on Saturday but it was marginally offside - seen them given (tevez v southampton).
Its a BRILLIANT goal to cap a BRILLIANT start by Rochdale - Don Goodman 26/08/10
JC must take some of the blame for not seeing the match out.
Most Managers start farting around with time wasting substitutions in the last few minutes to break up play and buy a "breather" while winding the clock down....JC should have reacted to Lester's intro........it was waiting to happen
