Yeah I'm trying not to think about that and pretending that we're down to the bare bones and the manager had no choice.
Match Thread on 14:26 - Oct 27 with 5418 views | BrianMcCarthy | No Faurlin again! And that Arsenal team is better than I'd hoped for. Wanted to see Gervinho and Coquelin playing. Gervinho's woeful in comparison to Giroud.

Yup. I thought after the team selection against Everton that he might have bought another of games worth of good will from the supporters by bringing in Hoilett for SWP, but think he may have negated that by replacing Shirt-sales Park with SWP rather than Faurlin. I guess he's thinking pace is needed today - one thing lacking in Ale's game?
Match Thread on 14:30 - Oct 27 with 5391 views | TGRRRSSS | true but if played in correct way he can control the ball and pass it better than most in our team.

Like for like. Swp on the right. Faurlin is many things but he is not a winger. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Park isn't a winger either, get your point otherwise
Match Thread on 14:33 - Oct 27 with 5366 views | kropotkin41 | Very depressed now. I don't see the point in someone having pace if he loses the ball the whole time. Is this a really bad joke? If SWP is playing then he needs to play a good deal better than he has for a long time.

Tarbs and Hoilet can both play wide though. As can Mackie.

Exactly. Don't need pace if the ball is at your feet rather than being crossed, stubbed, tripped over, or simply passed back to the opposition

Yeah, like I say, I can kind of see the logic, I just don't really agree with it. I think this is the kind of game we need to play to our strengths, go for it, and hope for the best. We kind of know what happens when we try to match up the opposition with SWP as a pacy-track-back winger.

Exactly. We have the ideal players for 4-2-3-1. Faurlin and Diakite in the 'double pivot'. Granero further forward and central. Hoilett and Taarabt wide. Grrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!

Everton was their warm up after internationals/injury, they should be good for the game.

AmI the only one that fears that midfield 5, however popular, is unbalanced and defensively suspect. Would love to be proved wrong.
