Hello from Petrolul Ploiesti fans 01:13 - Aug 20 with 15067 viewsPetrolul_Ploiesti

Hello
I am a supporter of Petrolul Ploiesti team and I'll come to your town on Thursday to watch the football game. From Romania will come around 200 supporters. We are happy to come to the country that invented football. In English, Petrolul translates The Oil. In our town were the first oil refineries in Europe at the turn of the century who worked many British citizens.
We learn many things from you. Ploiesti Oil is a very beloved team in Romania.
Could you answer some questions?
- How much is a beer in Swansea?
- Where we can grab a beer and sing our songs?
- Where can buy souvenirs with your club?
When you will come to Ploiesti will spend great together.

We respect! Best to defeat!

The name of the city is Ploiești. I don't think that means oil. It's the other part of the club name Petrolul that means oil.

Petrol bit at the front is the clue

Listened to how to pronounce Ploiesti but still not getting the end of it

Petrol lu le Ploi es qui ???

If the beer and the ladies are as good there as they are in Timisoara, all going will have a good time!!

Sadly, due to Malmo costs and my COAEW, I won't be there

I f*cking love Copenhagen.

I was working recently with a Romanian, he told me how the name of the town meant oil, also the history of how the nazi's invaded for that oil in the second world war.

Interesting stuff.

Really interesting indeed.
Hitler was very interested in the oil of Ploiesti, but it was more an agreement than an invasion. They became the main oil supplier for nazi Germany. American planes bombed then the zone, trying to destroy the refineries. They started the Operation Tidal Wave, which finally resulted a failure

Recently Petrolul fans displayed a beautiful choreography about these facts
https://www.facebook.com/casarebelde/posts/388432667892826

"Operation Tidal Wave - August 1943: no assault brought us down! Ploiesti never surrenders!"

There are wonderful stories told by American pilots, knocked down there, about how well they were treated by Romanian peasants.

The final 'i' in Ploiesti doesn't sound.

Petrolul number 7, Grozav, will be apparently scouted by Schalke tonight.
