I think that what we saw against Arsenal will be pretty typical of teams that want to get points off us. You can sit back with a well drilled defence, and we find it difficult to create and exploit spaces for our key goal scorers. And when we do, they may not take the chance (apart from Ings).
Man City are nowhere near as creative and dangerous as they have been in recent seasons. They will probably be content with a point, so long as their play evolves towards their previous peaks. We should be content with a point, just don't give away silly opportunities by pressing too high up. I'm expecting a pretty dull if tense game. I sort of agree we would be happy with 8th but that's not a great attitude to have.
Arsenal are a bigger club with better players. But ...they are languishing and not playing well. It was a chance to kick them when they're down, particularly with ten men.
City are not what they have been right now. So we can fear their reputation or look to take advantage of their malaise. We are actually playing well and we haven't been beaten in a long while.
I'm not saying attack without thinking but let's not be terrified. West Brom got a draw against City FFS. They seem as vulnerable in defence as any team.
Of course it will be tough but there's no point climbing to 3rd only to play the likes of an underachieving City and not mind losing because we'd be happy with 8th. |  | | |
