We failed to win back the Ashes because this current crop of England batsmen aren't good enough to cope with a pretty decent Aussie bowling attack. It's certainly been embarrassing to watch but better England teams than this have been whitewashed in Australia. Brexit and the state of the country is a rather more complex and important matter...

It’s no wonder it’s weird because the article was written by a son of two communists, he went to Oxford and later supported Blair then Cameron!

Not sure there has been a worse Ashes team than this lot. England lost because the team weren’t prepared and they can’t bat. The wider issue is that the ECB have sold test cricket out in pursuit of more pointless limited to overs cricket like the 100 to bring in more money. This has led to players being able to do fancy shots but do not have the skill or mental capacity to battle it out for 5 days. The demise of test cricket is also world wide with attendances at matches in decline. And at £135 to watch 1 days play you can hardly blame them.

Nailed it on 12:06 - Dec 30 with 814 views | TimSaint | Our Test preparations were ruined by Covid and the Weather. Entry restrictions into Aus and the fact that most players didn't want to go anyway (a few pulled out or strategically retired) got our already weakened squad off to a flyer, then all our practice matches were screwed because of Covid or the Weather. We really needed practice games before hand, in order to acclimatise and get used to that Kukaburra Red Ball !! We didn't have them and it showed. Not the first team to get a good stuffing over there and certainly won't be the last.

We're playing South Africa next Summer and they're usually rubbish, so maybe there will be better times ahead for all of us, although not before the economy has been plunged into depression as a result of the re-arranged final test against India.
