He certainly gets the best out of his squads. I am not sure he ever “builds for the future”, but that luxury if afforded to relatively few managers in each top national league these days. I thought that Real Madrid played like an old school Italian side, and whilst not exciting, it was interesting to watch and see that it still works. They certainly had a more resolute defence, concentrating and working together. Liverpool by contrast looked shockingly vulnerable whenever they were called on to defend. Madrid have shown that given an opportunity on goal, they will score more often than not. Liverpool’s lauded trio too often shot or headed directly at Courtois. 5 attempt on goal in the first half alone. |  |
