Nathan Jones says we're not the biggest 11:38 - Jan 3 with 547 viewsIfonly

After the Fulham game, Nathan Jones said "At the minute, we have played a back three because we’re not the biggest team in the world and when you come up against teams that are big, they’re good from set plays and we need to give ourselves a chance of being dominant in our own box and being a threat in the other."

It's good to see that someone is finally recognising what has been a glaring weakness for a long time. Ralph liked midgets that could run all day because that's what you need for the full-on pressing game that he started with. Over time he moved away from that full-on press but we're still left with the midgets. The result is that we get bullied and hardly ever score from headers, while conceding plenty from set pieces. The PL is a physical league. Also interesting to see that this influences his thinking on 3 at the back so as to get more height and strength in the team.

This is one of the many reasons we need a big target man up front. Let's see what happens in the January window.
