Yawn - another frustrating game. Only one point but here are 4 points taken from our situation presently: 1. Most fans are correct, Manning is mediocre. 2. Most fans are correct: Martin is not the manager for Saints if we want to develop a progressive, effective and exciting team. We need more impetus and positivity. 3. We miss Downes. 4. We need an effective no. 10 - between the midfield and the forwards. Despite having Stewart and even with him we need another creative, goal scorer. 13 Unbeaten yes but let's face it the opposition are generally poor and we're a little bit better although not much. Playing so cautiously without defending well surely illustrates that we have ineffective management but I guess some fans still won't accept this. If one decent player is out then we're simply a middling team that can struggle against anybody in this division. Word for Aribo who had his best game for Saints. Saints fans should be ambitious and deserve a team to be proud of that we can all be confident in. We can build a decent team but presently we're certainly not capable of taking a team that will survive in the Premiership. A proven, experienced no 10, that isn't injury prone, along with a fit Stewart, in January could go a long way in moving the team along to where we'd like it to be. [Post edited 13 Dec 2023 23:24]
