On This Day In History 17th March Part 1 on 10:42 - Mar 17 with 572 views
Quite possibly one of the funniest things I have ever seen written in these pages. It's almost as funny as Brian Howard being one of Hampshire's top 50 greatest footballers of all time.
A player with 1 league two appearances from Hampshire is more deserving of a place in Hampshire’s greatest footballers than a player with 1000 premier league appearances not from Hampshire

What is so funny is that I mentioned Marlon Pack and John Swift in one of 'Pat from Pooles' footballing threads (Pompey's golden generation?), and you laughed at them. Marlon Pack has almost as many Championship games as Howard and is only 28, and Swift at 25 will almost certainly overtake the superb 'Howard number' next season
Yet I didn't include either of them in my 'Hampshire's greatest footballers' list, but you somehow wanted to Include Brilliant Brian Howard from Winchester.

You might have found room for them all if there weren't so many players who are not from Hampshire in there

Pack might get into a top 150 if he keeps getting games. Swift might even sneak into the top 100 if he can get into the PL. Howard is well and truly stuck around 200 or below.
Which is a lot higher than Jason McCarthy, a decent footballer from Southampton who managed an incredible solo outing in the PL before finding his current level in league 1. At 25, he might still be able to become a regular in the Championship.
