Whatever football authorities may want to do won't matter if the government goes ahead with its plans to keep social distancing measures in place for 6-12 months as reported several times on BBC News tonight. I really think we can forget trying to complete this season in the summer. It's not going to happen. Even the start of next season must be in doubt now unless there is some significant medical breakthrough. Anyway, any attempt to play a number of league games in a short space of time in the summer would have been shambolic, with unfit players who hadn't trained together for months, some of them still carrying the virus, ambling around in empty stadiums. Just one player testing positive would lead to a whole club's squad having to go into isolation for weeks. [Post edited 20 Mar 2020 18:27]
