Macclesfield gone bust / Bale to earn 500k a week! 14:07 - Sep 16 with 803 views | Saintsforeverj | So Macclesfield Town are no more because of the virus pandemic. Bale apparently about to join Spurs for a reported 500k a week deal. Should each PL club not give say one million pounds each to be shared out between the lower league clubs? I am uneasy about PL clubs spending huge amounts of money (Villa, Chelsea, Spurs etc etc), whilst lower league teams go bust. Football without the lower league clubs will be very bad for football in general right? The chaos caused when pockets of lower league teams go bust, is unthinkable. Put it this way, Macclesfield Town were wound up with debts of 500 000 pounds. One week's wages for Bale. [Post edited 16 Sep 2020 14:14]

I'm not one for thinking that people should have to share the money that they earn in general, but this is a another level isn't it. When one week's wages of several PL player would save a lower league club, surely the PL and its players could rally in some form or another. If we lose, 10 to 20 lower league clubs, whilst PL players earn 50 million a year, it just doesn't seem right. They could earn 48 million a year and save British football.

It is obscene to pay a 31 year old who played 16 matches in La Liga last season that sort of money whilst clubs go bust and thse who work for the club both players and non playing staff lose their jobs

Is it though? If Spurs can afford it why shouldn't they spend it? Why is another clubs problem their problem?

But they can't afford to pay the office staff, so they furlough? But can afford to pay Bale 500k a week. And in answer to you question yes millionaire players should help because we all love football. We all love the cup competitions and we all love having the 4 leagues. If many clubs go bust, because of a virus, all of that disappears. In unprecedented times, PL players and PL clubs that love the sport of football, should maybe have a bit of care for the game we all love. If each PL club gave just one million pounds each, it would save British football and have no effect on them. Maybe Bale could earn 480 000 pounds a week and Kane 100 000. It wouldn't hurt them. This thread needs Boris to explain + why the governments fiscal response to covid is good for the wider economy; and + the loony left sentiments being espoused here are an affront to a forward thinking c.21st go it alone Britain. Personally - i agree it's obscene and thats why i opted out in the summer (and took a whole world of flack from some on here for doing so). You can't have it both ways - if you're a paid up customer of the premier league then this goes with the territory. Suck it up because if you aren't part of the solution...
