| Covid Firebreak Gives Saints Respite From Injury Crisis on 18:40 - Dec 18 with 988 views | Butty101 | Its hardly an injury crisis. Adam Armstrong and che adams are not regulars and we can only play one keeper at a time. Stuart Armstrong is a miss, but all the others we can cope with. What would be a interesting article, is a focus on the amount of money we are wasting on the lkes of Lewis, walcott and long | |

Leeds have 10 out and a 15yearold on the bench. Thats an injury crisis. If we cant cope with a handful of injuries then the squad is no better than last season.

We have a bigger squad this season. With 2 left backs signed. So let’s continue to play a right back there.

Che Adams is our joint top scorer and had started 11 (plus1 as sub)of the 15 games before he missed the last two through injury. Adam Armstrong had started 13 (plus 2 as sub) of the 16 games before he missed the trip to Palace so I don't know how you can say they are not regulars. With regard to Lewis we can't shift him due to his wages, we are stuck with him until the summer when he is out of contract, he is a legacy of a few years back when Les Reed gave several players bigger deals than they were worth, however at least it means we dont have to put a 17 years old kid keeper on the bench at the moment. Long has been a good servant to the club, perhaps he should not have been given another contract last year, but he has still contributed when he has been called upon. Walcott earned a contract with his displays last year, as he was a free transfer he has probably not cost us that much and he has experience. It is easy to say that we are wasting money on them, but Long and Walcott coming on at Palace was better than a year ago when it was the likes of N'Lundulu

It would be great if we could have a stronger squad then we do , unfortunately it comes down what we can afford. I agree id much rather have Walcott and long coming of the bench then the likes of N'Lundulu etc. The club made some good young youth signings in the summer so hopefully after a year these will be ready or 1st team action when required.

Che and Armstorng have both been dropped during the season and struggled to score. The only one that seems to consistently score is Broja. So more likely one of the other 2 would partner him now. Whats the point of a 3rd choice keeper, if when then clubs first two choices get injured he dosent step up. They may as well have paid him off as he will never play. Walcott started brightly, but by faded badly in the 2nd half of the season. Minamino at the end of last season was getting picked in front of him. He literally offers nothing. Long was a great servant but hasnt been any use in the last 3 or 4 seasons. Dont forget he wasnt good enough for Bournemouths bench last season. Why he got a 2year contract then loaned out is baffling. The point of the article was that you suggested we have an injury crisis, but we dont. You have been saying that we have a much bigger squad that last season, so it should be easily cope with having 3 first teamers out.
