Sadly it’s very common to put MPs in ministerial roles without any experience. Often they switch roles eg from health to defence, from culture to education Apparently the experts are supposedly the supporting senior civil servants. Imagine a plumber changing to electrician, sales to finance at the whim of the boss.
At least getting a foreign manager to manage a Premier club should be a breeze……….

Yep, never understood that.
You'd like to think that the Defence Minister (for example) would be ex-HM Forces... and the Health Minister an ex doctor or surgeon. Perhaps the Chancellor would have run a bank or a large international financial institution in the past?
But no. We mostly get clueless ex-public school plonkers who have never worked a day in their lives or run a business & are nothing other than career politicians.

Our whole economy is run by people with little experience of the institutions they have power over. From NHS to royal mail we have people who have run supermarkets in charge. Not the same. I think it's different from getting fresh pairs of eyes in to make occasional or targeted recommendations . The mod could certainly be audited better. Certainly shows up the lie that Labour couldn't be trusted with to he economy
