Let's stop trying to work out what Ralph's intentions are 14:53 - May 30 with 1297 viewsGRIM

There's no point us who care about the Saints trying to pre-empt what Ralph is thinking or what his plans are because he doesn’t even know himself what he intends to do.
Ralph overthinks everything to the extent that he gets confused & ends up making knee jerk decisions.
Why would he leave Che Adams out of the side just when Che is having his most productive spell since he joined the club, why when we are chasing a game & need goals would you resort to bringing on Shane Long who albeit will run around a lot
& fall over as soon as the opposition look at him he is not going to score the goals we need.
The opposition must love it when they see SL coming on because they know he is not going to hurt them.
Ralph for God's sake decide who your best players are, play them in there best position & play a system that suits the players.
Forget trying out think the opposition because you're not very good at it.
Cast your mind back to 1966 when we won the World Cup, Sir Alf Ramsey knew who his best players were, had faith in them to do the job & they did. He did not judge them on their Club form because as we all know form is temporary, class is permanent.

Whilst I understand what you and others are saying, but do you know our best team? My point being is that they are all very average, so what is our best team? I honestly don't know who I would play in defence for example, do you? Lyanco and Bednerak, Salisu and Bednerak, Valery and Lyanco or do we bring in Stephens? They are all mistake ridden so herein lies the problem for any manager we have. Hughes did the same. He swapped Ves for Wes H regularly, and so on. Then it was those two making mistakes, now we have new names making the same mistakes under a different manager. Are we just buying cheap, expecting them to be 80 million pound players when they aren't? It's a desperate attempt to get results from a poor squad lacking quality. We could play Armstrong up front but he is toothless so is Adams most of the time. Ok, people can argue points of view but our team is full of poor to average players, has been for the past few years and explains why we don't get anywhere whoever is manager.

Ralph got slagged off for not changing the team, then he got slagged off for changing the team. It’s all very well being a footballing genius behind a keyboard but not one of us is in the training ground and not one of us knows what is going on with the players. We have played some cracking football under Ralph and beaten some top sides. To suggest he doesn’t know what he is doing is utter nonsense. He knows more than any of us. The fact that the club have stuck with him through good and bad shows that they have faith in him. He hasn’t done badly with a very average squad. We don’t have enough quality players to perform well consistently no matter who the manager is. Bring in the right coaching team and replace the right players with better players and there is no reason we can’t do well next season.

When you say he got slagged off for not changing the team, Ralph got slagged off for not making substitutions. Now he makes them about 10 minutes after they need to be made.
It was never about constant tinkering with the team because, as he put it. He preferred a smaller squad to work with. Whether he did or didn’t but felt compelled to say that, that is something else. Now he changes the team from game to game and his selections are often confusing to humble supporters. I can’t be arsed to go back and look but I wonder if our run of form coincided with perhaps one or two changes from the previous starting 11 each game.

Block 13; Curva Itchen Sud

It's glaringly obvious that Ralph has his favourite players. Even if another player in that position is considerably better, Ralph will pick the player he is more fond of. If you run around a lot but aren't particularly gifted... have a laugh with Ralph over at Staplewood during training... and say all the right things in the build up to a game - you're in.

It's difficult to think of any other explanation for Djenepo getting as many games as he did.

But he’s played like 2 games in the league this season?…

Before this season. Ralph kept playing him when he was a liability for game after game.

Well he was young, so he was just seeing if he did have the potential we’d hoped he had when we first signed him. But he didn’t, which is why I think he only started to like 2 games all season this year.

Sadly, Djennepo is no wild card, jus erratic.
