I haven't been on here a lot over the past couple of weeks, I haven't been in Quatar, but my travels have taken me to Rome, Calais & Bruges. Not a lot of stuff around Rome about the World Cup for obvious reasons, but I did watch the game against the USA in a nice little cellar bar surrounded by American students and a few other English fans. I saw Belgium go out of the World Cup in a packed bar in Bruges and got back just in time to see England beat Senegal. Calais was shadow of it's former self, it has been decimated by the lack of cross channel tourists and the fact that the duty free limit is now only 24 bottles each instead of almost unlimited. The wine warehouses are nearly all closed down and the supermarkets that used to have massive beer and wine sections and were rammed with English spending their money are now deserted. | |
